Link I took off the water filter for about that same period , but what i found is that when i turn it back on , i don't want that initial 2 mins of water going back into the tank, the bacteria is contained in the "canister" and this initial water smells terrible as in full of ammonia and solid waste

.
keep yr water recirculation, but w/o the filters.......that will allow sufficient nitrogen to build up to support the plants. THEN u can meter the level of filtered recirculation u actually need

ok Link will try that , thanks

Hmmm that throttle back idea sounds pretty good...so perhaps my proliferation of guppies is whats keeping my hyacinths going strong! even after i gave cornfused, i had to throw away some...hmmm perhaps if i kept my canister filter cleaner i wouldnt have so many hyacinths...tho ive been thinking of replacing the sponge in it...with something better...any ideas? i was thinking carbon in a mesh...but then i gonna have to go thru the trouble of removing it whenver the UV light is on...(which is on more than it probably shud be)

BTW someone was asking about discus lover...i am/used to be one..but i cant keep them right now..not till skewl is finished... =(

Saw some last month in a pet shop in Sando and went back one week later to buy it and they were all gone...I figure someone with a petshop bought them all......so who has them...I want!!!

my experience with puffers especially the dwarf ones are they like salty water so they dont do well with pure fresh water fish they are also very very territorial so you can have 1-2 MAX in a 3ft tank minimum any smaller and its only one puffer u can have

Boy.....I bought some a few months ago and it seems they came with gill flukes and I spotted it late so to be realistic I might not be breeding until christmas and my angel production is high right now so I'm using alot of the discus tanks as grow out tanks for them. ^man i was setting up to cater for eggs (from the angels) maybe next week...but with this rainy weather, all my fishes were looking to put tings inna gear lol..

giving the bettas a rest for now, i tell you i have a really awesome crown-tail/half-moon male just chilling thats yours for the using, virgin fish business, although with betta males that could go either way yes...he's actually from the crown i posted above and the female blue half-moon in the second pic background.

right now, working with the pictured pair of koi angels, a pair of golden veiltails, also have four each leopards and diamond scale i'm growing out in the hopes of atleast one pair each...
i have access to some mature koi angels if you wanna get inside the game while they're breeding (called a buddy who also does angels nearby and ALL his pairs, ten in total, spawned atleast once within the last week to date...good stuff!)

space limited for growing them out so i'm taking my time and only working with as much as i can manage..

what your mission looking like these days?

Raz right now I have 14+ pairs and I still have a few in the tank that I'm waiting on to pair off. Betta wise.....hear what I feel you better just pass by me yes lol....I have some crown's with very good finnage breeding right now and some of the fish I got from you, there was a male that (believe it or not) grew to about 4" and I managed to breed him with a very large female. I have some of the offspring that you could have a few if you .
want. call and let me know

^ripping good sheit sir! (btw...WTF @ 14 pairs...and me with my two lol)...

once you in a gear for betta breeding i'll make a turn down and bring him for you, he has great finnage and good colour imo....looking forward to the "upsized" offspring...i know you had a couple sizable females last i saw. i think you're heading down a good road with the larger individuals...those will be some EPIC adults with full finnage....

i'll call before i come down, give you a stock check from what my side has to offer in case you're interested in anything...

before yuh ask lol (and to help djblademan), waiting on some juvenile discus from some east breeders, will post info for all when i get word...sometime within the nest week or two i estimate..

You'd be surprised how much fry you can get from just 2 pairs buddy, trust me once they are healthy and getting good food and water. And WRT to the bettas, I'm in full swing to a point, just trying to get good bloodlines from the local gene pool and some more breeding boxes....when you pass you'll see.

same here wrt growing out breeders, i find that knowing the fish in their growing stages makes working with them as parents MUCH easier and ALOT more productive.

the betta endeavors sounding good, i'll expand your gene pool by atleast one male and see what's worth sourcing (betta wise) to help the progress...lemme know if you're looking for particular varieties or just good breeding specimens.
there's a kooky old guy (Maloney off the EMR) that still does siamese versions and i've seen his stock throw out delta tails and split tails which means he has good gene variety, worth checking him before i make the trod down...siamese add good strength and resilience back into the gene pool as they're closer to wild stock.
