Did I complain? or was I just trying to find out if our cars come with tire pressure monitoring ...

Why do some people need to go on a rant about things ... somehow by indicating I got a flat and wondering if my car has tire pressure monitoring this guy seemed to think
1) I can't change a tire
2) I am a woman
3) That i never check my tire pressure
4) That i did not know it takes a few minutes to check tire pressure

i think you might have a fever and hallucinating rainman, you should check into San Fernando General Hospital ASAP, I hear they saving people lives there. :P

lol...The car has the ability to measure tyre pressures via the abs controller but it isn't a feature that is turned on for Trinidad. It's possible to turn the feature on via vcds but if it detects a low pressure the only way to clear the error is via vcds as the car doesn't come with a dedicated button to reset the tyre pressure monitoring alert.

That would equate to your car being equipped with a 60 litre fuel tank right?

55 litre tank. 52 litres is when the gauge reads "0" so 3 litres left in reserve but with no way to know how much of it is used. I refill 52 litres at that point hence the $300

As your tyres become worn, should the pressure remain the same or increase or decrease?

Hi good day fellow Euro owners, does anyone know about what spark plugs we can use for the VW Jetta 1.4 TSi 2012? I ask because i don't think I wanna be spending $225 per plug every 40,000 miles..LOL!

Thanks guys.

I don't increase or decrease as over inflation gives more center wear and under reduces performance, fuel economy and just sucks. I expect if your tyre wear is not proportionate then it might be alignment problems (providing you don't over and under inflate).

So there were a few revisions vw did.. you can see my post here for part numbers etc..
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=536241

As for 40k from what I have read they are fine @ that mileage. I have bought these plugs
4 Pack NEW GENUINE NGK Platinum SPARK PLUGS PZFR6R Stock No. 5758 however I have not put them in as I have a good bit of miles to go again for the interval.

PS. @ bunny ears - if you go stage 1.. you will save more fuel 8-)

Yes. I've done a remap. I have been playing around with it for a while and its excellent. I have not done a dyno but I plan to, it should be rated a bit more than 200 hp. I wish I did a before and after however but did not get the time.

A few things to note
- power delivery has been much smoother. Sometimes my first gear would exhibit some jerkiness and you felt it hard when the turbo kicked in, doesn't seem to do that anymore. Gear 3 feels more like gear two now and you feel alot of power there.
- the car feels overall faster as building up speed is quicker. Does not feel laggy when over taking as well.
- on the hot days when your car feels like it has caught an infection, that effect is alot less now (I still plan for a front mount inter cooler however due to heat soak and my long driving times)
- on the nights the beast is released per usual..
I think around 25.5 C ambient temperature is what the map was designed for but we don't get that here in the day so you will never get all the improvement the map offers.
- Fuel consumption is reduced for sure, I usually get around 800+ kms with mainly high way driving on/off AC, cruising around 80-100 kms. Just to explain a bit, takes me about 20 min each day to get to the highway and 1 hour on the highway itself and a 10 mins off high way again. I got way less before.

PS. I don't have the protune uk map. I got a GIAC one :!:

Sweet!

Just saw your thread on the spark plugs. I plan to get the revised one 03C905601B (came out 20 August 2012). Apparently the gap was reduced from that on the 03C905601A and I have read that this makes the car drive smoother. Will start calling around locally to see who has it.

Anyone changed their oil on their own yet? Looking to get the oil filter :03c115561D. Anyone know offhand where has this?

Is the GIAC remap available locally? What are the supposed hp and torque gains supposed to be?

Lots of questions there

From what I read about the spark plugs, the cavd engines are real picky the d revision are for newer 1.4 tsi's and the older ones (I think I fall there) the a's are fine. I think I am going to use the a since the plugs I got has that gap. Then I am going to monitor for misfires etc.. If there are issues, especially since I remapped I may re gap to the b revision.

I changed my oil a few weeks ago.. pretty simple. As for the oil filter :!: , man I looked and looked called around etc wanted an oil filter as close to oem as possible but no dice. The ones found were around 275 TT etc from the euro parts dealers. I ended up getting some MANN 712/90 filters from the UK but shipping took a month and change...

APR, REVO, GIAC has no dealers in Trinidad. Closest I think is Venezuela for most of them. The marketed gains are quite impressive (~50 hp) on the map but alas I cant confirm until I do a dyno, but I will say I was stupidly impressed when I put back in my ECU and made a pull..

Just called ERM and N&M. Both have the 03C905601B spark plugs.
N&M: 291.64 per plug
ERM: $230 per plug

Just spoke to my coworker driving a BJ Mazda and he pays $100 for FOUR plugs :/

@cqk4 I think the oil filter might best be bought at the dealer if you want it oem. N&M has it for $162.

Also 03C905601B comes in new 1.4 tsi engines with code CTHD but older ones like mine, CAVD also shipped with it too.

I can't believe you just compared the plugs for a VW to that for a Mazda BJ...
