The Rav4 is just a facelift of the existing model, and TTTL has opted to start bringing the long wheel base version that American market gets. As for the Camry, that's also the US model in that pic. The Japanese/World model has different front, rear and interior designs.

Concerning both, there's nothing ground breaking to write home about. I'd probably have more fun shopping for a stove than driving either of them.

What exactly makes a car "for our market"? Any dealership ever did a survey to see what cars John Q. Public would like to see in "our market"?

"Our market"; whatever trinis 30-50 years old would buy en masse with no care form or function except that it will start and run until their loan payment term ends

I had someone in Trin call the firm on one of the vehicles ( outlander ) and they told him its $550,000 vs what this thread says ($381,000) so you understand why I would ask again

Oh ok. But the Outlander is definitely NOT $550K.

agreed especially considering a lancer 2.0 gt with 2 airbags is what 260k? chevy cruze 1.8 for 217k and 2 airbags? Corolla 1.8 about the price of the twin charged jetta fully equipped jetta? a 1.8 civic upwards of 220k? A mazda 3 with 2 airbags and a 103hp engine for 205k? and a bluebird sylphy 2.0 with rear drum brakes for around 220k?

wait an elantra 1.6 with sunroof for 209k?

I think the Jetta is a bargain compared to those. :|

The new lancer fully loaded is over 300k and even that is nothing compared to the new jettas imo. When my cousin gets his I may use it more than him  - I wish people would realize what's going on and demand value for their money.

To add 'insult to injury', even at those exorbitant prices, 'standard' safety features included. Example: All trim levels of the Santa Fe are supposed to have standard Antilock brakes (ABS), Roll-Over Sensors, Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Brake Assist, Electronic Break-force Distribution (EBD). The local 3 models right up to the fully loaded 7-seater leather at $380k doesn't. Only ABS. I was told I'd have to order these features separately and wait 4 months. Apparently an electric powered driver's seat is more important, than occupant safety.

Incidentally, the 2.4 Grand Vitara and 2.4 RAV4 do have these safety features but only in the 'hi spec' models!
