Some use it to teach, some figure there is hope and can steer the ship in the right direction and well some just to say they have a degree.

Survivorship bias. I sure it have many multi millionaires with gender studies degrees.

Joel Osteen coulda tithe his way to millions without a high school diploma if he wanted to.

Survivorship bias is usually focused on the individual instead of the group.

It's a case of people using the exception and not the norm as their example.

If you were to take all the persons who have gender studies degrees, what percentage of them used it and were able to make a living off of it.

I'd wager it's a low value.

you didn't read a thing I said didnt you

We had doctors before degrees was a thing too. Now we have degrees and better doctors
We had farmers before degrees too, now we have degrees and large scale food production.

You ever try to grow a perfect large tomato bai? With no marks and minimal pesticides so ur consumers wont die?
Now scale that up to a large hydroponics set up.

Trinidad has an OJT programme. So if the job requires around 2 years (or less) experience, then it would simply be easy for the majority of the population to apply.

Some farmers want to have a better grasp of the theoretical aspects of their field and would understand better within a classroom setting.

We agree on sumn for once bai

but its , more to apply the knowledge to fine tune food production to maximize yields and therefore profits.

There's only so much the man in the plant shop down the road can teach you.
Plants/animals take a while to grow to see results, there's only so much personal experimentation you can do as well.

If, if only there was somewhere you can go to learn from the mistakes and successes of other people who experimented on plants/animals HMMMMMM THAT WOULD BE A FINE IDEA WOODEN TIT?

Even with masters degrees people struggle to get hired. The term is academic saturation, more and more people are graduating with higher level degrees thus taking down the perceived value of said university degrees. A bachelors degree has been the modern day version of a CSEC certificate with a masters shortly becoming one as well. The age old question remains, what makes your piece of paper better than mine? Employers want all these employees with years of experience but forget you still have to train the staff in some form to handle the job at hand.

That's what interviews are for.
You can have 5 people with the same qualifications and experience on paper, but one interview round and you'll know who the best fit is for your organization.

That doesn't make sense. The amount of enrollment has steadily decreased for both the undergraduate level and postgraduate level. And most jobs that require do not require more than a Bachelor's degree (odd exceptions requiring a diploma could also be added).

Out of topic for the original message, but same can be said about any vocational jobs such as welding, plumbing, electrical work, millwright, fabricating. They all require years of experience but not all have apprenticeships available or positions that are needed. And there aren't much positions available in the country.

Employers want to see work experience. If you go to University, they would assist you into getting internships such as being an associate professional or you can apply, as previously stated, to the On the Job Training programme offered by the Ministry of Labour for a small fee. Since most entry jobs require around 2 years, it would be easy to apply for them.

The Ministry of Labour has also recently commenced conducting a survey to see the job vacancies for both the private sector and state enterprises to see where there might be a shortage in a particular occupation.

May I ask what degree and/or profession you are currently doing.

Considering the domestic violence and harrassment women have to go through,I believe gender studies should be implmented into every school's curriculum.

Knowledge of gender issues does nothing for stemming violence. Many predatory men lurk within within those programmes and NGOs simply because it gives them access to vulnerable women while appearing to be allies.

Before you state something meaningful such as tax education and social security/welfare services be apart of the curriculum, you want to include something which is a low priority. Why?

You do realize way more men than women fall prey to violence on a daily basis right? How many men got killed in Janurary alone?

IT for the mafia.
There are more important things on the plate before we can take on gender pronouns.
Food security being the main one

But the thing is, universities run programmes based on consumer demand. If nobody want to do agriculture, well then it will wither and die. You're seeing a lot of program culling in place locally and resources being allocated to those demand trends.

We need to start the agriculture interest at primary and secondary schools.

Those are good topics but are not related to the main title where they talked about "useless degrees".

I was wondering because of the "attitudes" and "ideologies" presented within this forum by numerous about the degrees and/or jobs y'all doing, to understand why y'all might believe in the concept of useless degrees.

Yeah. Male violence occurs due to other men and often not on the basis for their gender.

And also, I never stated that men cannot be abused. In a previous post, I said that women are more likely to be abused and harrassed than men. Not that it doesn't exist for men.

For the first statement, do you have any sources to back up your claim. If not, it is an assumption.
Example of an article that discredits that claim:
https://bit.ly/3YQgIUd

For the second statement, that is essentially making alot men seem heartless and prone to being predatory. Which is worse than what y'all think I am doing since I am just pointing out the problems and not classifying one group as monsters.
And there is also the fact that you haven't provided a source that verifies your claim.

Jared is the kinda man that would ask people to cite life experience in APA 6th edition.

As you grow older you will learn one or two things outside of an academic context. You would probably learn that most life lessons can't easily be put into words.

Because if you do not have evidence for your reasoning, then it becomes a baseless accusation without any merit towards it.

Those with the same mindset as yours, not saying that you have done so, just those who use "life experiences" as an excuse tend to do so to justify racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, etc.

The latter four being the apparent around most places.

Just a few weeks ago, a woman on Tiktok stated that women should have gyms either allocated to women alone or for them at certain days. Alot of men in her comments got annoyed by her preposition and started berating her along with making "stitching" aka making a reaction to her video and positing up on the site.

That is a problem with toxic masculinity in men and other societal issues such as the economic situation for citizens on the metaphorical poverty line.
However, I was talking about crime in relation to the mindset certain men have about being "dominant" towards women.

I guess I was wrong in not including that as well, it would also help men learn about their own masculinity, the difference between positive and toxic iterations of masculinirt and how to better cope with their problems more efficiently without learning from "influencers" or other men who promote said toxic masculinity traits.

I do think their should be shelters in place to protect men. There have been feminist groups and organizations that have contrinuted to male domestic violence shelters.
