Really? So I guess the salesmen doing a favor by selling these phones? They about that profit. So if you pay $3200 for personal use, I could see a lil $500 markup being reasonable, but I certainly wouldn't call $800 robbery.

Lol @ "lil $500-800".
That is up to 25% of the original price in profit.
A profit margin of 10% is reasonable. anything over that is robbery.
This person is selling phones as a business so after selling 10 or 20 at 10% profit, the money will be nice.
Allyu rather sell 5 at 25%+ profit to the naive trini and hope it have more that you could ketch

Still can't compare to the ripoff that are phone accessories locally. 250-300% markups

25% markup is FARRRRR from robbery.

The stores have to pay for rent, salaries, rent for linx machine and inventory. Someone buying there is paying for the convenience of being able to get it instantly vs waiting a week or two.

For you the week might be no problem but for many people who don't want to go through all the drama of getting a credit card, signing up for a skybox and making an order to get something in one to two weeks or maybe more it's a much better option.

markup of 33% is normal.. much higher for jewelry and luxury items. only groceries have smaller markups than 33%.
10% markup is not feasible for a business to make profit, pay rent, utilities, staff and for capital outlay.

I'm sitting here reading and wondering what world these people live in where 25% markup is robbery?!?

Rent. Staff. Insurance. Utilities. Then last but certainly least your own salary.

8-4 crew maybe?

They really have no idea :$

i wasnt talking about stores. i know stores have to pay rent and all that, obviously. i talking about powersellers and tuner businessmen without a physical location in a mall.
stores in the mall is like 40-50% markup. saw a moto g for $3000 and nexus 5 for 4500 the other day in the mall for example.

Lets take an individual seller/powerseller (without a retail outlet)

Cost of phone : $3000.00 Landed (lets say)
Markup of 10% : $300.00
"Total" Made : $300.00

To make $6000.00/Month Seller must sell 20 phones.
20 x $3000 = $60,000.00

Lets check overhead
Seller must have either the capital or a line of credit to purchase these phones - That has a value/cost
Seller must spend time procuring, invoicing and transacting the sale - seller's time has a value
Many sellers provide a delivery service - Cost of Gas, Vehicle maintainance
Seller must be able to absorb the cost of Defective stock, dead (unsold) stock, returned items

10% Profit margin for anyone who is not doing wholesale (or massive volume retail) business is senseless and I'd consider it self-robbery. No retail outlet or not.

All that is well and good but how come the markup is different in mall here vs a mall abroad?
Everything is cheaper abroad, everything.

If I compare amazon price to mall price like in Miami the markup is not as high as if I compare amazon price + taxes+ shipping in a mall here. Even when u consider the taxes and stuff it is crazy.
When it have sale here some places raise the price then lower it to what it was before.

You have to admit it have some serious blood suckers here.
You talking about warranty and defective items? Lolwhut, this is Trinidad bro, even bmobile does duck honoring warranty. Hardly any tuners offer delivery, that is the minority.
Look doma was complaining the other day skyboxes hurting their business. Business people here need to adapt or fail once everyone has access to a skybox. Once I could save a little using skybox I buying abroad for anything. My mind is on my pocket not analyzing and accepting rape because of "overhead" costs.

Not a fan either but ended up getting it on impulse and I regret nothing.

Had a nexus 4 already too.
