I hold no love for Jwala(still can't get my own US from UTC) but his position is supposed to be non partisan and free from politics. His contract isn't ending soon and to fire him without solid evidencial reasons means the PNM has interfered where there are not supposed to. There is a fine line between new regime and witchhunt.

They'll just frustrate him from the inside and force him to resign.
He and Howai made a total mess inside that place. Neither were on the same page

^ ^ ^ After the mess Rambarran made of the foreign exchange regime, keeping him there until his contract expires is not an option. The Gov't has to buy out his contract and show him the door a.s.a.p. in order to install a competent replacement.

Maybe he can ask Uncle "Duck-&-run" for another referral for his next position... as an A/c clerk!

At this point in time TT needs a strong Guv in the CB. If the PNM are unwilling to work with Rambarran they will have to replace him.

He doesn't know the difference between a profit and a loss, shouldn't head a bank. It's not about party bias or whatever.

PP still to decide basis of challenge on election results

Lawyers for the People’s Partnership have yet to decide on what grounds they will petition the Court to declare the September 7 general election null and void.

Two days after the election, former Prime Minister Kamla Persad- Bissessar said the PP would be challenging the results of the general election based on the decision of the Elections And Boundaries Commission (EBC) to extend the voting time by one hour.

Persad Bissessar issued a release which stated: “A decision has been taken to challenge the results of the general election based on legal advice the People’s Partnership has received.

The challenge is based on the sudden decision of the EBC to extend the time for voting from 6 pm to 7 pm throughout the country without any official notification to the People’s Partnership and its constituent parties.

“Additionally, many citizens were unaware of this extension of time and hence did not cast their vote.” Citing Rule 27 (1) of the election rules, Persad Bissessar said the “taking of the poll at each polling station shall be between 6 in the morning and 6 in the afternoon of the same day.” The EBC responded by stating that Section 71 of the Constitution gives the EBC autonomy over the registration of voters and the conduct of elections in every constituency.

“Additionally, the constitution allows the Commission to exercise their powers in an unfettered manner.

Therefore, the decision to extend the hours of the poll finds its basis within the constitutional supervisory jurisdiction of the Commission in all election management matters,” the Commission said in its release.

Yesterday, attorney for the PP, Larry Lalla, said it was in the interest of every voter that the courts determine whether the EBC’s actions was in keeping with the powers given to the organisation by the Constitution and the Representation of the People Act.

“The matter is being researched by the party’s lawyers and very soon a determination would be made as to when the courts would be approached, the manner in which the court would be approached, and the persons who would be party to this very important litigation,” he told Sunday Newsday.

“The party sees itself as having a serious responsibility to the country to ensure that if the EBC acted illegally in this election, it must not be allowed to act illegally in any future election,” he added.

Lalla said any time limit for the Partnership to take action would depend on the type of action the party decides on. For example, he said if the PP decides to file an election petition, it must be filed within eight days of the “Election Return” prepared by the EBC. He believed this return was prepared on Friday September 11.

Chairman of the EB C , D r Norbert Masson declined to comment on the matter saying it was under legal consideration and therefore inappropriate to comment further.

According to Senior Council, Kenneth Lalla, many issues remain unclear. “I don’t think there is enough to comment on unl e s s documents are filed (in court), and the facts are known otherwise it would just be speculation at this time,” he said.

How typical of this band of jokers, they bawl they going to contest the election results and process, but can't even figure out how and where to begin. Kamla just put a hot potato in Larry Lalla's hands, he juggling hard. This was a lost cause before it even began, and will leave Kams and her band of losers looking even more foolish, irrelevant and petty as time goes by.

Kamla has given up the fight.
In the process making her and her band of merry men look like fools.
Their financiers must be cussing wind right now and they themselves are trying not to fan any flames... They at least want to be thrown a bone once projects start kicking off.

What an idiot. Again Rambachan's body language said it all in the video footage *WTF are you thinking?!?*

Kamls wrote:A LETTER TO THE CITIZENS OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
Democracy truly is a precious thing and the result of an election is an expression of the will of the people. All persons who are elected should take those responsibilities very seriously indeed and I congratulate the hundreds of thousands of you who exercised your right to vote and made this possible.

Again, I take this opportunity to congratulate my opponent Dr. Keith Rowley on his victory. I wish him all the best for the sake of all our people. Indeed, the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago deserve competent and effective governance and it is my hope that this new government can continue our legacy of performance and delivery.

Personally, I am very proud that so many promises were delivered during my government’s time in office. The People’s Partnership leaves our country in a far better position today than what we inherited in 2010. I hope the new Prime Minister will use all that has been achieved thus far, and build on it so as to ensure that development continues.

My passion was to serve in public office because I wanted to make a difference - because I want to make a difference and improve lives. As the saying goes, with power comes responsibility. I held office and power and used both for the betterment of people’s lives. For the sake of our country let us all hope Keith Rowley now follows that lead.

We may not hold the reins of power but we will do our utmost to be patriotic citizens and an effective opposition.

Rest assured the United National Congress and the People’s Partnership will be back stronger than ever before. In the meantime we will do our patriotic duty as members of the Opposition and we will prepare a programme that puts people at the centre and our country at the front.

I thank all our candidates, volunteers and supporters.
