I ended up buying a S7 Edge got it for $2380 from Lets Talk Brand new and its a stunning looking phone.

It is a trade off, but the OLED screen is stunning in everyway, since the performance is good enough on the S7 Edge I went with it. But I do miss the super web browsing performance of my Huawei Honor 8.

The Honor 8 destroys this S7 Edge in Web Browsing and stuff.

It was pointed out that the LTE 1900 band for TT isn't supported on that phone.
So the APN settings for 3G would be: internet (for postpaid) or bconnected (for prepaid).

where you buy that phone boy? Carry back and let them set it up for you.
Or else I'd have to say you get a half-ass assembled clone phone with no modem.

When you changed to the LTE sim, the rep didn't set it up for you there? That's bad service. That means they didn't check if the data on the sim card was working then. Carry it in at a cell phone outlet at a mall and ask for a little troubleshooting help. I'm sure they will fix that up for you.

First though: Check for any system updates over wifi, see if that could possibly fix a problem.
Then try these steps: https://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-cell ... n-android/

Try the apn as "Bmobile internet". Using poco-f1 here and it works with H+

brilliant device but for our region several Chinese Brands- Hwawei , Honr, Xaomi, POCO would not be compatible for LTE in Trinidad market as we use LTE Band 2.
however if you are ok with HSPA- 4mb download this is brilliant device.

Zee wrote:Good point...

So the basis is the F1 and a bMobile LTE ready sim card for post paid data.

Select "Settings"
Select "SIM cards & mobile networks"
Select "SIM 1"
Select "Access Point Names"
Select "+ New APN"
Select "Name" enter "bmobile"
Select "APN" enter "bmobile"
Save settings
Go to "Preferred network type" select "Prefer 3G"
Go to Mobile networks and ensure "Automatically select network" is on
Turn "Mobile Data" on
Turn off Dual 4G
Put the phone into Airplane Mode for 5-10 seconds and then turn Airplane Mode off and it should work

This should give you H+ data.

I hope this helps
I say u was doing that all the time

HDSPA+ (H+) maxes out at around 20 Mbps in Trinidad. LTE IS faster but where are located and the cell tower load greatly influences what your relative speeds are.

The Chinese Market phones do not support Band 2 because they were not meant for export. The hardware is identical but the modem software is locked down.

that F1 is a legendary phone, it is a shame it doesn't support our LTE. But even then if I had to buy a phone now I won't mind buying this F1 especially since the S8 has a screen burn problem

You would need to unlock it and flash it with firmware that can use the 1900MHz band. Not worth the hassle for me for a brand new phone. Butttt......they couldn't hack it. XDA developers gave up after trying a lot with the LTE issue. Apparently it's hardware locked, possibly on the physical chip itself. Xiaomi has to release a US version for this to work.

I wonder if Bmobile and Digicel would consider using the Chinese LTE bands in Trinidad considering how popular Huawei and Xiaomi is becoming in Trinidad?

Another thing, with 5G Approaching, how would this change this issue? would 5G still have these issues for future phones?

Band 2 is used in North and Latin America only. The fix is to buy a true world phone.

5G frequency bands and codecs have little to no overlap between market regions because of regulatory requirements. Upcoming 6G and 7G technologies are expected to be even more fragmented.

Hey all came across this thread in my venture to purchase a pocophone and it was very helpful thanks. Not as tech savy but just to share my experience after viewing this thread I went into a store and tested my speed on my galaxy s6 with digicel lte and got a download of around 30mbps and and upload of about 10mpbs, then proceeeded to put my sim in the pocophone and test it getting only H+ and got a download of around 5mbps and an upload around 1-2mbps. Although I don't use my mobile data heavily it was a dealbreaker because it would be as if I wasnt getting full value from both my phone and service provider. Sad though because it's a great value for money phone otherwise.

Considering that you only get 3GB of Data which is what most people purchase these days, I think few will care for LTE service or even need it. Not to mention most places don't even have LTE support.

When it comes to landline internet, Trinidad is far ahead into the future.

But when it comes to Mobile Data, Trinidad is still stuck in the Bronze Age, there is no need for LTE if you only have 3GB of Data, if anything LTE may prove to be counter productive as it might eat out your data too quickly without you noticing.

LTE might make sense when Trinidad moves into a modern age where medium sized data packages are in the range of 10GB etc like in first world countries.

I am usually around the whole country and my bmobile has very limited LTE support, I have a S7 Edge

However Bmobile says they have the biggest LTE coverage, so I am not sure if what you are saying is true? maybe someone else can confirm?

From what I have always known even confirmed by Digicel is that Bmobile has superior GSM coverage due to them having a higher spot on cell towers and more towers than Digicel? not sure if this also applies to LTE
