WTK Welding alternative

Postby jsr » March 24th, 2013, 4:51 pm

I am looking to make some stands out of steel but I have no welding equipment and also have no knowledge of welding. Is there an alternative for this such as an epoxy, glue etc that would bind the steel together just as strong as if were welded. Want the best and proven product.

what kind of stands u making? epoxy may not be appropriate.

u can try brazing..its using heat and a filler....but u still gonna need something to heat up the metal.

u should also consider hiring someone with a welding plant to help u out...

depends on the weight being supported .. best bet is to weld it!

Bolts with proper bracing is the only thing that will be even remotely as strong as welding.

nut/bolt with angle is the best option but it will be a pain to drill the angle unless you
have access to a drill press.
If not you will have to take your time to drill smaller pilot holes to be accurate.

what kind of stands you want to build ?

pit missing a breather strip on the bottom .. heat will be uncontrollable and burn chicken while having a rare inside.

u might want to cut a strip 1x1 inch along the bottom of the pit underneath the pit
