I bought a new computer with Windows 8, I cannot see videos from the net (Trinituner), I get the Audio, I have the latest flash drivers and drivers for the graphics card, any ideas.

Just got a brain wave and changed to lower quality, working now.

there's too much of a disconnect between the metro interface and the traditional desktop. eg. apps vs programs. and it is way too different.

is like i have to relearn how to use a computer.
it might be a ok for a tablet but not a non-touch pc. hell no

oh and shutting down/sleep etc takes way too many steps.

yupp same here, for a tablet PC then yeah ill learn to live with it.

My friend actually downgraded from windows 8 to 7 on his laptop. i had to reinstall all the drivers for him, honestly id do the same, windows 8 a bit technical for me

u dont need to install apps...u can run ur software as normal.....


had windows 8 for some time now and its much smoother than Windows 7 IMO....didnt like the new start screen but its easier and faster to use once u get accustomed.

and you can have your exact windows 7 setup look and feel :\ duno how men complaining
for men who cant do without the start button just download classic shell .. that metro windows logo on my screen is the normal start menu u know from previous windows



and yes ah suppose to do ah desktop cleanup

To properly use win8 you should have a touch device. At least a touchpad honestly. Once you get accustomed to the gestures it is awesome.

i have the windows 8 core installed on a 7 year old laptop (2 gb ram, athlon x2 1.7 GHZ, ati x1150) and d ting does run cleeaaannnnn, d aero faster than windows 7, mainly because it have no transparency in d window itself, but mehh....too lazy to go back to 7

So i am running windows 8 pro 64 bit on an HP Envy DV6 - 7222NR

I like windows 8 its very clean and fast

but im having some issues with updates.

Windows says it has updates to install all the time and i need to restart to update, when i restart sometimes it updates and sometimes it just restarts; but all times on the start screen it says you need to sign in to because updates are there to be installed

Im also having a problem with HP Support Assistant getting stuck when it is downloading updates and has a continuous red question mark on the tool bar. If i try do anything else on HPSA it just crashes

Cleaned registry, malware scan, reinstalled (refresh) windows ..nothing works..any suggestions?

that's it right there. I know HP loads a ton of bloatware. I'm sure there is a guide somewhere, where u can follow to do a clean install of win8.

the laptop came with windows 8 installed and i dont have an install disk for it. Anyway to retrieve the product key from this install and reinstall a fresh copy?

it should be stamped somewhere on the body of the computer.

For more info on the clean install i recommend you check notebookreview HP subforum. It might be a bit technical.
Be careful uninstalling it just so though.

try that. However do find a guide or some evidence that someone did a fresh install before actually doing it.
Also, you can contact windows support to verify that you can use the key for a fresh install.

agreed..since i made the change to 7 really i cant see myself going back to xp as much as i loved it..while everyone can agree vista was complete sheit microsoft did it right with 7 its a true successor imo and as for windows 8 it hasn't tempted me enough to upgrade just yet

I really don't get what's the deep rooted hate of windows 8. I'd admit I dont like some things about it but essentially it is 7 with a lot of improvements. Nothing beats booting to your desktop in a matter of seconds.

I use Win8 due to the fact my Asus Laptop comes with a recovery partition for it....but no disc.

Installed WIN8startup button program for free and voila....all my negativity about windows 8 are gone...I really wish MS would just listen to the masses and provide the start button/classic feel as part of thier hotfixes....
