Besides, ODPM, the media, ministries, airport management and offshore subscribers have already received it via email.

T&T to feel effects of tropical wave
Story Created: Oct 11, 2012 at 9:59 PM ECT
Story Updated: Oct 11, 2012 at 9:59 PM ECT
STREET and flash flooding along with gusty winds are expected today as a large tropical wave is predicted to impact the southern Caribbean, especially Barbados.
But with the system being such a large one its feeder bands could affect Trinidad and Tobago from early today.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Florida, USA, the weather system, which is being described as a broad area of low pressure, was located 100 miles south-east of Barbados, with thunderstorm activity continuing and showing signs of organisation.
NOAA said the system has a 50 per cent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 24 hours as it moves northward at ten to 15 mph.

Hook when I asked if these updates were available on the the Information Bulletin page of the Met Office of Trinidad and Tobago , there was no response . Many times when you post here it is not on the MET office site . This is not a complaint rather an observation . More to the point ; last evening news reports on i95.5 said that the met office would issue an information bulletin at 6pm . I checked , refreshed and check at different times till 8pm and again at 6 am this morning to find that the last info bulletin was done at 8:20 pm on Thursday , but published well I cannot say when.

When I saw the warnings of red and orange codes that preceded the epic Western Floods of August 12th and 23rd approximately . I felt happy that the Met Office could have predicted this and maybe allow those that want to take precautions to do so . I can only hope this continues in a timely and efficient manner.

Bulletin#5

Date: Friday 12th of October 2012
ISSUED AT:06:15AM

AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER ASSOCIATED WITH AN
ACTIVE TROPICAL WAVE ABOUT 100KM EAST OF THE
SOUTHERN WINDWARD ISLANDS.

At 5:00 am today, the area of disturbed weather
associated with an active Tropical Wave was
located approximately 100 km to the east of the
southern Windward Islands. Its movement is
towards the northwest near 25 km/hr.
Environmental conditions continues to be
marginally conducive for further development.

Although instability associated with the proximity
of the system to our islands has been minimal
overnight, its presence is more likely to be felt
sometime today. As a result, light to moderate and
at times heavy showers can be expected with the
occasional thundershower, which may become
intense.

Rainfall accumulations of between 30 – 40
millimeters or even greater in some locations are
anticipated from this rainfall event. Gusty winds
in excess of 45km/hr will accompany heavy
showers/thundershowers. Landslips/landslides are
likely along slopes of the northern range. Rivers
of moderate carrying capacities may become
inundated.

Citizens are advised to be vigilant and cautious
given forecast weather conditions. Be alert to
any electrical discharges from thunderclouds and
adopt measures which would preserve life and
property.

WE STRONGLY UNDERSCORE THAT TRINIDAD & TOBAGO IS
NOT UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR
WARNING AT THIS TIME.

The Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Service is
closely monitoring weather conditions and will
issue another bulletin at 6:00 pm or sooner if
the situation warrants.

1. To answer your question, no. It's available on the website in the format Duane posted above owing to the make up of the update page/template.

2. There were technical difficulties with the website update page last night. Fin.

3. The pdf/jpg that I post is actually for ODPM, the PM, Ministries, Protective Services and other subscribers (CMO, WRA, offshore companies etc.) and therefore not readily available on the website for the general public, although it is sometimes available on the Met Office's Facebook page. I don't have to post it, but IMO seeing the letterhead adds validity to it, that's why I do it. The office seems to think that the fact that it comes off our website is sufficient.

4. I am not a PRO or a Communications Officer here, no such posts exist in this organization. I'm neither a representative, nor a mouthpiece for the organization so I cannot speak for them. The sphere of my work is completely different and not related in any form or fashion to the forecasts, predictions, bulletins or advisories - I do Climate work, ergo, I deal with the values and statistics AFTER the events. I'm just a 2nr with access to information. That is all.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
800 AM EDT FRI OCT 12 2012

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON TROPICAL
STORM PATTY...LOCATED ABOUT 230 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE CENTRAL
BAHAMAS.

1. A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CENTERED OVER THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA
ABOUT 60 MILES NORTHWEST OF SAINT LUCIA CONTINUES TO PRODUCE
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS NEAR AND TO THE EAST OF THE LESSER
ANTILLES. ALTHOUGH THIS SYSTEM IS LIKELY PRODUCING WINDS TO
TROPICAL STORM FORCE IN RAIN BANDS...SATELLITE AND SURFACE DATA
SUGGEST THAT THE LOW STILL LACKS A CLOSED CIRCULATION. UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME MORE CONDUCIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT...AND A
TROPICAL DEPRESSION OR TROPICAL STORM IS LIKELY TO FORM DURING THE
NEXT DAY OR SO AND A TROPICAL STORM WARNING COULD BE REQUIRED FOR
PORTIONS OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS. THIS SYSTEM HAS A HIGH
CHANCE...80 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS AS IT MOVES NORTHWESTWARD OR NORTH-NORTHWESTWARD AT
10 TO 15 MPH. STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL ARE
POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE LESSER ANTILLES DURING THE NEXT
COUPLE OF DAYS. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT IS
SCHEDULED TO INVESTIGATE THIS SYSTEM THIS AFTERNOON.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

&&

PUBLIC ADVISORIES ON TROPICAL STORM PATTY ARE ISSUED UNDER WMO
HEADER WTNT31 KNHC AND UNDER AWIPS HEADER MIATCPAT1.
FORECAST/ADVISORIES ON PATTY ARE ISSUED UNDER WMO HEADER WTNT21
