so besides rm size no one can think of anything else that could cause this.
note the distributor rotor and cap need changing. not very bad just needs changing.

history on car:
previous owner broke the auto camshaft (didnt know it was possible in a auto) and it was replaced by classic mechanic. not sure about timing after it was replaced or if ek (obd2) and not eg cam were used. would not think it would make a diff and car idles normal (stock) and revs and everything else is also normal

here''s a thought what about if the car's ecu was changed from the local (hong kong i think) to the jdm (limited speed cut auto ecu) ? but would that still explain the car dying out of power in d4 at 160kph but redlining at 180kph in d3?

update what do you guys think about a bad distributor cap and rotor causing the issue? A experienced tuner said the ignition could be breaking under heavy load

Put the rim sizes and tire sizes in a calculator below are the results

seeing that result state that it wouldn't make a difference in the cars performance with the rims weighing only 14lbs each

going to take down the oil pump soon to check for damage and make sure oil pressure isnt a issue, (vtec is strong through the gears and constant through the rev range so its just precaution) distributor cap and rotor changed, seals changed, transmission flushed, reached 200 on 195,45,15 but that profile tire cld of been giving the speedo a wrong reading.

Adrian, i have the same problem, tho its not a problem. If you run out your gears in D4, the shift from 3rd to 4th happens very early, i keep it in d3, run it up to red line shift to D4. If you put the car in d3 an run it, then the shift from 2nd to 3rd happens early as well.

Update:

Since then i have put back on 15" rims and 195.45.15 tires and the car goes into fourth in d4 and passes 160kph. the car now revs and accel much faster.
