AD wagon problem

Postby ivar » October 28th, 2010, 10:10 am

Good day. Engine is a qg15 bone stock (regularly serviced).
Here is the problem, my dad for some reason likes to start his car an leave it idleing for 10 to 15 mins each morning before he reverse out of the garage, well like evry other morning he did as expected BUT this morning when he as about to reverse out the car bucks like once an cut off.
Attempts to restart was not sucessful as the engine will tumble but not start. Once it did start for a couple seconds and it cut off even if i tried pressing the accelerator.

We left it for about 10 mins an tried to start again, alakazam, the carc started an idle good. Can anyone ever experienced this? What can cause this? I mean the car is well maintained and serviced regularly. oh one more thing i heard a noise coming from behind the enginem like a bubble like noise..not sure.

actually, that exact thing happened to me some last december. I have a 2005 AD and it tumbled well and started and then suddenly dipped and stalled. i had to make a long journey that day so i was kinda worried about using it in that conditon. I called this mechanic named timmy and he brought his launch diagnostic scanner and, after logging on to the vehicle's on board computer, we then realised no check engine light came on. How embarrassed my dad and i was.

anyways, we wetn to a nearby auto parts store and bought a new air filter ($35-40) and new long spark plugs ($200 plus) and he cleaned the throttle body and the probelm was solved. No more engien dying or stalling. it ran really great.

I recommend changing air filter and spark plugs. Needless to say, the problem is with air/fuel delivery.

also, these modern engines do not require warming up. just start and drive.

If you continue to do that you stand a HIGH risk of causing some damages because you are not allowing the oil to heat properly and to circulate and lubricate the mechanical parts.

If I am in a really rush I would rev a little just until the guage crosses the line, then proceed to drive , still not revving all the way until the temp guage reaches close to half.

Had the same problem with my AD about 3 months back ....problem was the crank and cam sensor went....it was causing the car to buck or just cut of with out warning....and the cam and crank is the same sensor its suggested to change the both at the same time..

I remember my brother had that same problem with his lancer. diamond misdiagnosed the problem and wanted to charge him $4000 for some part. them guys who have a diagnostic scanner will get it right. it was the crankshaft position sensor.cost of diagnostic scan -$200. cost of CPS - around $800.
