drove Mazda BT-50 today!

yea folks......it was a brand new/roro new version. It was loaded, 16" rims, side steps, fog lights, 4 airbags, ABS, EBD, in-dash 6 CD changer and a host of power features and it was the 3.0 DOHC 16V turbo diesel version. It felt more powerful than all the pickups I ever drove and its easy to smoke those rear tyres in an aggressive take-off. The quality is exceptional inside and the cabin is very quiet for a pickup. Its a step up from the B2500 and I'll choose it over the Triton anyday but the Toyota Hilux has the edge wrt the cabin design....its more car-like in a Hilux.

Looking to buy a BT-50 soon, drove in afew different brands and they are some of the best pickup's i've ever been in and or driven.

^^^^the ranger is a mazda design and built. they have same engines too, the 3.0 tdci being the top-gun but u can feel the power more so from the 5-speed manual tranny as opposed to the slowmatic tranny. but they're great!

But if they are using the same engines, design and built, how come the mazda Deisel dont come Transmission...only the 2.6 gas models come with tranny

when you all go for test drive, where do you go and and what do you do. i tell the salesman that i want at least a half hour drive and then test all the features as well as all capabilities, eg abs brake test, stop and go city driving, highway merging and driving etc.

anyone ever did this or agrees with this

the power to weight in the bt50 should allow it to outgun all the competitors, also, Mazda doesn't like to couple their diesels to autos.

I like that it's manual only more power to the wheels plus the cost to fix that tranny when something goes wrong may be pretty high...I'll stick with the box

reall bad ass van have on my self only problem you may get is dat the third gear hums after a while its slightly break off . and the gearbox for it expensive ask anyone with mazda b2500 experience they would tell you the same . ford tranny is give trouble had a friend with a ford tranny fully loaded after a month it was giving trouble swapped it out took one from show room van an put the bad one in show room van :/

yup, have a ranger home, tranny is rubbish and turbo lag like wow. when we had the b2500turbo though, never had a single problem, well except for that time i was offroadng and broke the cross...good van.

my bt50 is coming up to 100000kms....almost 3 years....very economical to maintain

just change your fluids re gearbox oil, diff oil, engine oil etc depending on driving styles....i do highway everyday so i changed gearbox oil and diff oil at 30,000kms....red line

i really heard that problems are being experienced with the trannys on the rangers...and i guess now we have auto mazdas...so its just a matter of time.

BT50 you cant go wrong, I am an x wasa and x petrotrin worker,,,and we had, the hilux, sr5, mistubishi, fronteir, navarra and the BT-50 and any driver you as about performance with 4X4 especially in off road terrain and the moutains up in the north coast,they will tell yah,,nothing handles it better than the BT-50. The navarra's and Vigo is to heavy and their 1st/2nd Gear isn't as powerful, usually you have to build the RPM in these van before you get some power. Have you ever realise as soon as you take off in a BT50 you have you change to 2nd Gear, because the RPM Shoots up..thats raw power.......So bro,,look around in some of the companies where drivers abuse vans,,,and see what they driver,,,,aprt from the lower mts cost,,,,,it durable, powerful,,speed like wow(and it running any 3.0 or above, once you could handle gears), plus look at a mazda that is 5-10 years old,, vs another vechle same age

Yes, this is a good vehicle. 2.5T 2wd. Power like a murfer. But I need a six shifter. The 5 topping out.
Anybody have a 6 man to lego.

Ppl i remove the 17 bolt,,,and saw a spring inside the compartment where the strainer is,,,,what shhould i do,,,,its full with diesel,,,so i didnt dig inside to see if the strainer is there,,,,,,i was kinda frigten i dmage anything,,,please tell me what to doo
