Hey Guys,

Am in the market for a used car. hopefully something around the 2017-2018 year (manufacturer date)
Looking into something where its reliable, sporty looking, non-CVT, easy access for maintenance and if something does go wrong, parts should be readily available. Was thinking along the lines of Mazda 3, Toyota corolla, Kia cerato or others

Any advice is appreciated.

Of the list, go with a 2017-2018 local Toyota Corolla.
Parts will be more accessible vs the others on your list. All of them will be kinda pricey, but you'll get parts from TTTL or other vendors.

aircon compressors very faulty
well known problem but guys retrofit 121 compressors easily

2017 CY Lancer with the 1.6 in any colour other than white.

Make sure you get one with the 60/40 split rear seats and steering wheel controls for the radio.

The only thing I have to say is stick to the Japanese. Corolla, Lancer, Civic etc. Also, getting something 2017+ without a CVT is pretty difficult.

A Lancer GT/ GLS 2.0 sounds like the best bet.

I think with proper maintenance it'll hold out and in the words of Top Gear UK you have some "flappy paddles" to keep you entertained.

Yep have cvt lancer since PCH and no issues start and drive since used oem trans oil and recommended change intervals

Mind was pointing me towards a 2017-2018 mazda 3. I like the look, plus its not cvt and a couple forums on google say their pretty reliable. Not sure, but, I just don't find toyotas to be sporty looking for the everyday cars, reliability tops but looks nehh.

Go with a well-maintained CY Lancer 1.6 local.
I just sold mines after 9 years, doing 224,000 km and everything is still working as it should. New owner very happy.

trinis does rel run down\beat up their cars then want to sell them at a ridiculous price when it needs body or mechanical need repairs but they eh want to be reasonable on d price

my 2 cents - u hadda be rellll lucky to get decent UNabused ride at a fair price, but if u cud manage without putting urself in debt get a good "new" foreign used, go that route & save urself d headaches ...
