How to buy pods/risers for back dash?

Postby StarrGeneral » August 13th, 2021, 1:33 am

Blessed good morning and thank you all in advance for your help... I want to purchase a pair of 6" risers for my backdash , I will be running a subwoofer separately so I don't really need bass from that configuration but I do need quality mids, my question is, which risers to choose = #1 sealed or open bottom risers? does it matter? What's the difference? And #2 does the size of the riser matter if I'm only using it for mids? There are an existing pair of holes for speakers in the backdash how to work with that?

if the speakers fit in the hole in the back dash already you can use some foam speaker baffles. that's the easiest and cheapest way to go. just a suggestion.

OP u worried that ur air pressure from ur bass will push on speakers cones ?

unless u running really powerful bass i say mount speakers in normal open back risers

if u really worried about it then cut 1 or 2 vent holes in back dash or if ur seat has a hand rest u can vent it ...

Ok... Well actually I tort using a riser would direct the sound forward and enhance the sound. (Kavaninho & David12) ok so it doesn't matter if it's open or sealed??? (Rovin)

old time ppl & loud ppl put rear speakers , sq guys totally eliminate or dial down rear speakers until u barely hear them since a proper front stage is farrrrr more desirable

if u using pro audio\loud speakers & u want it facing forward u can use angled risers or get a custom backdash

those compact foam cup will muffle & color how speakers sound ... i would just use stock speaker mounting & not worry about it

Ok thanks Rovin but I just don't like how the speakers sits deep inside the backdash and I wanted to pair them with supertweeters... I'm powering them with a 750 watts max 2 channel amp seeing that the risers accommodate the desired setup I was thinking risers but was just confused about the open bottom or sealed type especially since I will likely have to mount them over the existing speaker holes

are u new to car audio & is this ur 1st system ?

look at rms rating not max power ratings on amps or speakers - many videos on youtubewill explain this in detail

why supertweeters with 6.5" speakers ? , imo those small 1" tweeters will do , do u like ur music "height-sy" with a ton of overbearing tsssss tsssss tsssss bussing ur ears , ever heard a balanced system ?

not to put an ad in this section but if u need further advice about system design come see me at my store , google or fb my name ...

Op the best option for tweeters inside of the vehicle is some simple dome tweeters. You have a wide variety that you can choose from depending on your budget.
