Guesses weren't bad
Good calls .
Shocking income tax decrease move though, but I ain't complaining

Nah that was the one good move, people need to spend in order to keep the economy alive. The 1% stores have to make money too.

Very naive for thinking that covid task force would yield results. Can't have someone so simplistic in that role. Other countries will play them for fools, no matter how bright u are.

Fun fact for you.
Proposed increases in the penalties for praedial larceny by 200%. Guess what the funny thing is.
Throughout the history of agriculture in this place, if the farmer is robbed of his crops, even if the thief is apprehended, when the fines are imposed on the theif, guess who gets the money. I'll give you a hint, it ain't the farmers.
That not going to change.

That ass still yapping the usual yap about investing in agriculture. I go believe they serious about that when I see it.

Why don't we give Tobago independence and use that money for something better? The have “tourism", the will survive. They will have to actually work and not be smoking weed whole day on the beach while being paid by the THA.... Our money because they don't generate any. Tobago is a bill just like the defence force. Enough time on their hands to play football all day and run sou sou.

The NP move means that they have protected the wholesalers while leaving the retail market with the responsibility to absorb costs that the whole supply chain has passed on to them.

So we have one importer...Paria
2 wholesalers...NP and Unipet.
Both protected, with fixed margins

The margin compression will occur at the retail point.

Wait & watch. This is the how cartels start. All owners will come together to form an "association", and set pricing to add on at least 50%. How much allyuh want to bet super going up to at least $7/l by March?

Here's the push back.....they are now liable for more taxes to be paid. We all know how gas station owners love to cry taxes are too high and their margins are low.
I wait to see what really happens.

It has been mentioned the hybrids and cng vehicles those previously mentioned to be exempt.
Roro quantities are also to be reduced.
Three year and newer can only be imported.

could it end up as a case of the retailers colluding to set their margins to the detriment of public?

retailers better be responsible - else could open the market to other retailers - maybe one day get shell V-power or Chevron's/VP 109 unleaded at the pump....

The answer is yes, that may very well happen.

The real question is when it eventualy happens, what's going to be the outcome for the entire commuting public and the economy. As we all are aware, shifts in fuel costs equate to increases in travel and transportation costs, as well as a host of other aspects of daily life costs for the public.
