Re: 2017 Kia Sportage

Postby sweetestreds25 » January 4th, 2019, 9:26 am

Hey Everyone happy New Year... So one year and two months later, Sportage is still doing well. Reached 23000km and have not had any serious issues except for three Issues:

1) the theft of my Headlight washer that was ripped out the front of the car alongside the telescope etc to reconnect it.. Be Alert for those with the GT Line I have a few other associates who this has also happened to. (Costing 2500 for the replacement parts from Southern Sales!) This brings me to my question... If I go somewhere else other than Southern sales to have the parts reinstalled... does that void the warranty on the vehicle?

2) Can anyone recommend a good alarm for the Sportage?

3) Noticing a few hairline scratches on the paint due to constant usage (which is expected over time) plus a big truck gave me a Christmas gift of scratching the right passenger door and I am contemplating rather than just fixing the scratch (straightener charging 2500 to paint the entire broadside of the car so that it does not look two-toned), would it be better to just do a flash of the total car?

Any advice rendered would be appreciated.

Just an update.
Van just hit 90k km. No issues to really highlight.
Changed tires to good year asymmetric 3 F1. Really good response on driving now. Just changed front brakes as well and detailed van myself.
Looking for someone skilled to do the 100k service.
Anyone ever did any greasing of the suspension themselves?

Anyone knows what size battery is recommended for the sportage gt line 2017 model? Would a red top optima fit?

Well first issue hit at 100k.
The window regulator on the driver door broke apart. Not sure where to get the part. The motor is good but it's the plastic regulator on the door panel itself that's needs to be replaced. Part number on the motor is 82460-d9010. But it doesn't come with the actual gear that needs to be replaced. Anyone would know where to source it?

US$80 for the part here, minus shipping. But you have to 'Ask for Warehousing' first and they will update you once they have it.

Or you say window. You can check Gunness in the Bamboo. The man does fix anything with windows.

Really good customer service in South compared to north.
1 year and already has 29,000kms. Really nice daily driven vehicle.

HAve spoken to a few Kia sportage owners I know and the daytime running lights seem to need changing every so often(they blow) , plus I have heard of 3 or 4 cases with leaking windscreen washer bottles that needed to be replaced, then some of them also have Air condition expansion valve issues that are changed under warranty.

Started recently getting serious gasoline fumes and smell inside the cabin of a PDN series sportage!
THought it was only when you overfilled the tank you get a smell, but now the smell is there and just doesnt want to to away? ive been wondering if it has anything to do with the recirculate flap for the Air condition not closing, but not sure

After my disgusting customer service experience, all they seem to care about is NEW vehicle sales and to hell with the current owners.
Would say if you buy a used KIA- service it anywhere outside the dealer... their service is the absolute WORST and their policys are terrible

Good day all. I’m looking for the shark fin antenna for the 2017 Sportage. The cover really. Passed under some low hanging branches and it broke off. Can anyone direct me to a crashed one to salvage the part or somewhere to purchase it new besides SS? It’s a company vehicle and the boss ain’t biting nice. Thanks.
