for the guys with the surge when accelerating...is ur vehicle diesel?..if so that is normal....that is the boost from turbo...is like you mash and a slight delay..then all of ah sudden torque steer.....I ran my sportage to 190 already comfortable...and for the guy that getting the jerk from the tranny...do you get it when slowing down like on third gear?....that happens to me as well ...think you may need to change ur transmission fluid....im doin 45k...currently I use Valvoline 5w 40 full synthetic diesel engine oil..works like a charm.....what I want to know from you guys is what is the transmission fluid type...I never changed it and I do my own servicing at home...any help wud be appreciated...

From the accident

N.B. When i changed oil and I got genuine filters it has the Kia/Hyundai stamp on it and as you can see here its the same...so if not all but most parts are interchangeable.

I could not get the rear trailing arm from SS in a timely manner so I ended up getting it in N&M.

Alignment is still a little off but very much driveable now.
All that could be adjusted was, but the alignment guys said it could be the spindle?

Any thoughts?

I want to know what oil (and body) do you all use (petrol engine)......one tech in the firm said that they use a semi-synthetic 15w40 Shell and another said that they use a full synthetic...I dunno who to believe...receipt says 5 quarts x $85....have to see which shell is around that price....I tort they would have been using TOTAL since that's what kia recommends......

Dem tell me I could bring my own oil next time.....so I'm figuring my usual 10w30 Amsoil....

Any thoughts?

Funny that they would tell you semi and fully synthetic.
I've been using fully synthetic since the days of the firm....Shell Helix 5W 30 (http://www.shell.com/global/products-se ... -5w30.html)

I am out of the firm and I still use this.
I wanted to change to Amsoil also.

When I used to go the firm I met a couple of customers who bought their own Disc Pads and Oil and Filter so it's no biggie...you might save some money IF they really change your oil and filter lol

Any thoughts about the Transmission Oil though because this transmission is sealed.

Hey I have been servicing at SS from day 1 and I am at 82000kms presently. I have always carried in my own engine oil Amsoil 10w-30. The Sportage uses 5 quarts. They have never changed the tranny oil though so I don't think u ought to interfere with this. From the owners manual it says that no service is required. The coolant is also good for 200000kms. U should also check your Ac filter as they normall don't check this. I changed this filter at 50000kms

I've changed the AC filter twice alredy (65000 km)...but thats more nitpicking than anything else. I let them use their oil...Shell whatever...

From my information SS uses shell fully synthetic and this is a very good oil. Amsoil is just my personal choice.

I usually change cabin filters regularly ... at least once a year ... those things get dirty fast.

Gerard that and blue tooth are not only nice but necessary features to have these days.

Vin you might be able to get that plastic welded. In other vehicles it's just a flap bolted on, in the kia/hyundai it's all in one.

Check a good body shop or your straightener/painter and ask.

Plastic Weld? Its a big piece...might not look good.

I was looking at it...there is a screw but I wasn't sure if it was 'all in one' or could be replaced :(

I will check around.
thanks for the suggestion

i got a set also. its pricey considering its mats but i cant really complain. drive side moves a bit but its not bad for me as i rest my foot on d dead pedal so it helps line it up. wish our sportage came with the pegs to hold down the mats as the liner has the provision for it. i bought mine at carplus is south. waiting for d trunk liner to complete the look.
