My 04 Diesel Kia Sorento is Sick :(

Postby Dane_Jerrus » July 7th, 2012, 11:11 am

I'm looking for a very good diesel mechanic and or electrician to figure out what is wrong with my 2004 EX 2.5 CRDI Sorento.

THE PROBLEM:
1. Engine tumbles but doesn't start.
2. Engine cuts while driving then goes back to problem 1.
3. Getting some white-ish / blue-ish smoke when starts up on mornings or if parked on a slant.
4. Getting black smoke when reving.

My main concerns are problems 1 & 2. I ran a diagnostic and the results showed the Rail Pressure Sensor was malfunctioning. I changed it but it didn't solve the problem. I changed the fuel pump and the primer on the top of the fuel filter but the problem still exists. Cleaned out the fuel line and no good results yet. Someone suggested it might be an electrical problem with the solenoid in the fuel pump or a part in the fuel tank itself (can't remember the name).

Can anyone help?

try this -

clean injectors (most people dont )
make sure the codes are clear (usually change the bad part and not clear the code)
drain fuel tank (for water and sediment)
theres a system in some vehicles that when the fuel is poor or haz water the vehicle picks it up

could be something else but ^those are worth checking

I ran a diagnostic... it showed up the Rail Pressure Sensor (again...even tho I changed it) as well as the Camshaft Position Sensor.... I changed the camshaft sensor and it seemed to be working fine... for a couple days then gave the same problem of not starting... scanned it again and once again... showed the Rail Pressure Sensor...so... I have another one to put it just to test...thanks for the advice tho... i still need to get my injectors cleaned

Some people told me that the lining in the fuel tanks eat away in the hyundai, kia vehicles, Its worth a check to see if this is the problem.
