^^Ah you're right. There is a red light that illuminates for temps that are too high. I'ts kinda lame if you ask me, but apparently, Kia isn't the only one doing it.

On one of our company cars (Tiida), it uses a blue "temp" icon to indicate when teh car is still warming up, and a red one for when it's too hot. No actual gauge per say.

Come to think of it, maybe that isn't such a bad idea.....I mean, aren't the stock gauges accurate in only a small temp band or something like that?

Had a enjoyable this week end with the car- went up Mt St Benedict hill under full load car performed better that I expected, then went over Lady Young without a/c even better. quite a lot of torque for the engine size.

The gas consumption is fantastic, never got close to 500 km on 3/4 tank of gas b4 ,thought it was a diesel I was driving.

"however" to full the tank is almost as bad as the forester - it took from 1/4 tank to full took $160 premium.

Not regretting the investment at all, the car looks great too!!!

Yeah fuel is great on it, tends to drop after a 6-8 months tho (the indicator telling you how much fuel to empty). When i bought my vehicle, it showed about 500+ on a full tank, after 6-8 months it dropped to about 450-470.

I still get good gas on it tho.

I reach 34,000 KM thus far on the ODM, no problems...yet :)

I would like to be an owner of the Koup however SSL is making it a bit difficult. Called today and got an estimate faxed over, all fine and dandy.

However they are telling me that the 2.0 may not come with a sunroof and WILL NOT be coming manual. They are saying no manual vehicles will be brought in, even special order.

:-/ If anyone owns the 2.0 A/T how does it feel and would you prefer a manual? I'm going for a test drive of the 1.6 this week.

Guys, the cerato is approaching 5000kms and hs to get a service, I have 2 issues that I need advice on:
1) can anyone confirm if the firm will be using a synthetic oil or not? I think the sales rep told me that they use Shell but could not say if it is semi synthetic or full synthetic.
2) when the car went in for the first 1000kms service, I ask for the rer brakes/handbrakes be adjusted but it came back the same way. I literally have to pull hte hand brakes right up. Is this normal or is it that they just did not adjust it?

I must say however, this car runs great on the road. The 6 speed transmission really is tempting on the h/way.

I think service intervals should be 10,000 km- and it is a full syn oil that should be used,

I was told that you can bring the oil of your choice if you want

hand brakes is right up for my own

Since my first service they used Full Synthetic Oil, so i only carry it in at 10,000KM.
So you should be fine there, unless you wanna carry in your own oil.

Normally they adjust my handbrakes every service without me asking to, thats very strange. Ask again (make sure and write in the service order form).

however it connects to an iPod nano 4G

is there any way to resolve this?

Gigaware DC iPod car charger works for me - available at Radio Shack (they weren't sure it would work).

could someone explain why the price increase to $195k? Is it even still that price? I mean from the time I saw it in MT last year it was like 170k. Can't understand why the Cerato costs more than the Hyundai i30

I'm the owner of a red cerato. It has 20000kph on it no great on gas and runs beautifully, I just have one question has any owner got any problem with breaking on rough roads. I was doing 40 on a rough road and had to make a sudden stop and my breaks was not holding.

Looks like the 2011/12 Ceratos are gonna be equipped with the new 140 ps 1.6L GDi engine (along with the 6 speed auto), that Kia showed in the new RIO at the NYAS IIRC.

Sounds pretty decent.

Sweet, pretty sure they gonna jack up the price.

In other news.
Just my luck, got rear ended two days ago by a Civic (facking honda drivers again)

He said he had a prior accident with it so his bonnet was "soft". It folded in, his left lights crack and indicator came out and front bumper with a dent, his grill, well i not to sure bout that one.

My damage? well, take a look for urself:

marct, the cerato has a sealed transmission, therefore it has no dipstick. I guess this means less mtce on the owner.

Guys, this is long overdue but here are some pics of the cerato.

Initially was a bit sceptical about getting a kia but talk to Captainzaak on the forum and compared to the alternatives on the market, the kia takes win.

Ok guys, took the cerato for its 10,000kms service in POS.

Oil & filter was changed - I supplied the engine oil (Royal Purple. Intend to run this for 10,000kms)
Air filter was changed - $150.00

Everything else was routine. They took the car for a test drive and all was well.

This service bill was approx $500.00.
Not too bad.

My service is due end of Sept at 40,000, but im only at 36,000.

You guys think i should still carry it in or postpone it til i reach the mileage? Oil looks good, last time it was serviced was in January this year.

Captainzaak,
I would advise you to re-schedule and wait till you reach closer to 40,000kms. Even though they recommend 6 months thats based on average driving.

I also service a pickup at diamond motors and they also recomend 6 months/10000kms but i usually take 8-10 months to reach that mileage.

Stick with the mileage and get vlaue for your dollar.

You guys are lucky -I hear what you are saying about value for $ but it is recom that oil should be changed at the mileage or at least every 6 mths - I would go with the change now.

The oil still breaks down

Yeah that's what i was wondering Marct, because i'm in traffic to POS every morning Mon-Fri, even tho it's full synthetic, i'm "iffy" on postponing the service again.

In other news, i saw a PCT Cerato today with the entire front bumper ripped off (looks like due to an accident), smh i feel it for him.
