Does anyone own a Sorrento?

What are the pros and cons of buying one.

no cons all pros. sweet body on frame vehicle, excellent diesel mileage, very luxurious for the price and body/suspension is like a Chevy Tahoe (like a rock).

looks nice in any colour and pulls attention all the time even though its design is 6 years old already. Lastly it has 5-star crash safety.

Anyone knows how to open the dashboard of a 2003 kia sorento 2.5 diesel? I want to switch to an electronic antenna since the stock stopped working and is $1100 in the firm. It is the dash with a big continuous horizontal cover on the top, about 10 inches back and comes forward an inch beyond the front of the radio. The a/c controls are all buttons to press, not round knobs to rotate. pm me if u want to see pics.

Also, has anyone put in a turbo timer and had any problems with locking/unlocking the doors using the transmitter? I have a factory installed keyless entry system (ie a kia transmitter, not viper/aftermarket) and i want to make sure i can still lock the doors with the transmitter if i install a timer. The transmitter has 4 buttons: lock, unlock, open back window, and panic.

ANY info is appreciated. :)

I read on some forum that to open the dash, you have to pull out the two side panels first, then you will get to the screws to remove the top and deck. Those two panels-some come in wood grain finish, is just cliped on the the dash, they said just pull if forward to you with some force, or use a plastic tool to pry it. they know what they are talking about, cause it had pics of it off showing the clips ect..

Also i put in a turbo timer in my sorento, an know, the keyless entry wont lock the doors when the van is on with the timer counting down. it only works when the engine is off apparently. but i had an viper alarm installed and so i use the alarms keep pad to do every thing the kia keypads do..including opening back window.

Do you know if there are any DVD Decks, or any other that can work back in the space but also maintain the use of the controls on the steering ?

:D Thanks for the info.

I just opened the dash using a flat screwdriver to pry from the bottom end of the narrow side section and pull the face forward. There are 3 clips on the lower half of the face and 3 clips on the horizontal section on top of the dash. They all slide out basically forward. The whole a/c vent assembly(3 inches) u can see, comes off with the face. I do not think it is wise to try pulling using the vent or the directional fins. You can see the screws holding the faces for the middle section now.

I do not know of any decks that keep use of the steering wheel controls.

I have a 2003 2.5 turbo diesel Sorento.

One of my fuel injectors is dead and I need to buy a new one, but there are actually 3 different models in my engine right now. The dead one has a big Z letter stamped on it, on the engine two have Y and and one has no big letter. I got a 'no letter' borrowed and it works well on the engine- a few days with highway runs and no problems. $$ says $4500 for one injector, but I cannot see what actual model it is until I buy it... and online is $700usd for 4. A kia mechanic told me any one works for the engine (which I am running proof of) but he doesn't know which is stock or which is the best one. How I got different ones I do not know. Another $$ mystery I suspect.

My question is- Can another diesel sorento owner check and tell me what letters they have on the top of their injectors. You would have to take off the plastic engine cover (4 screws) and just read the top of the 4 light blue/green caps.

Hopefully I can figure out which is stock or most common.

Just got mine. PCC, so second hand but only doing 45xxx on the odo.
Virtually new, however the cruise control seems not to work at times. Also the fog light bulbs don't work but i tested the bulbs and they aren't blown. So Electrician will be the first order of buisness this weekend.

Apart from those 2 minor(hopefully) issues. This is a fantastic vehicle that delivers in all aspects.

Looking to do the same on an older model ('07-'09) I recently bought.
Seeing references to there being a factory installed amp, but was wondering if that's for only north american models?
Don't wanna buy an output converter if its not necessary. Not finding much info out there... looking for a wiring schematic/diagram. Any luck?

Actually I swapped out the head unit and put n an 880prs and changed the entire audio system, a mini sq setup. You can get the dash kit with harness on eBay and it's really easy from there. YouTube has instructions to remove the interior trim.
