First, I am glad for TTUNDRA, however my issue is the same as last year(2012), and I stress this against the wishes of my good friend that supplies me with info.

Camden is a piece of real estate that is owned by the Government and could only be acquired by registered groups in the Ministry of Sport through State Lands. why are these temporary arrangements giving access to stage public events with NO request to produce something as important as Public liability insurance and not asked to produce, not any HSE General survey analysis on safety protocols.

Those who in authority who give this permission should made to pay if anyone should suffer an accident so race at your own risk.

Most if not all forms of motor racing will not be covered by any public liability insurance. Trinidad being the country that it is will definitely not have that. Public liability insurance would be for patrons paying and attending the event, should some calamity occur.
Most of the registration forms used by motorsport bodies/promoters and signed by the racers removes the threat of liability to the promoter/motorsport body, ie racers participate at their own risk, if they crash, break an engine or worse they have nothing to claim, if there is a payment it would be at the sole discretion of the promoter/motorsport body. A patron watching the event has more right to claim.
There have been a few incidents in the past at Camden ie bluebird that ran off the track that flipped, capri that ran off and flipped, bmw that hit a light tower, I am pretty sure that not one of these guys got any compensation and accepted that, equally those participating in ARC Motorsport Car park events who got their cars damaged due to racing would receive nothing ( R35 that crashed ), karters that damage chassis’ or worse will also get nothing, Rallying events would also fall under the same umbrella, racing in all its forms does not cover the machines or drivers, and they have the option to accept the risk or not.
A proper safety plan, ( HSE pre-plan, risk mitigation etc ) would be essential to start planning of any motorsport event. I am pretty sure that public liability insurance was discussed at the TTundra meeting and judging by the small display event held a couple years ago at the Ato Boldon Stadium, they have some proper organisation, hopefully their first drag event would go as smoothly.

The following is an excerpt from an email to TTUNDRA...

When word that TTUNDRA had successfully acquired Camden on a trial basis, I couldn't help but feel happy for you guys.
I had chosen to align myself with TTUNDRA when I saw how "principled" you all sought to be. Even though you are still in the infancy stages, there is a sense of pride and willingness to address the needs and special requests of your membership. Even in the face of stern obstinacy, from a then, "in charge" Mr Ali, your Committee stood their ground as far as their principles went. And even though I am not a registered member, as yet, I feel honoured to be asked my opinion and suggestions from time to time.

But before I offer them, let me make it abundantly clear, that I am in no way in communication with any one associated with TTASA, MATT or any of their present or former presidents or trustees. I have, like MANY others, borne the brunt of outright usury from past members of various "groupS" who claimed their "love and devotion" to motorsport. What I have been doing ever since I started being "vocal" on matters pertaining to Racing....is SIMPLY TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.....with no hidden agendas, or ulterior motives. I have NEVER, ever, received any compensation, favor or gift from anyone associated with motorsport.
Ok, ok, I got a few pit passes.

I do what I do, because I love it.

To be succinct, EVERYONE is looking to see whether TTUNDRA can and will pull off this event. And many of them are doing so with "claws ready to rip" into the hard work and fabric or the organization.
There are many however that greatly desire for you to succeed and will support you 100%.

It is this "group of supporters" that are ultimately who are going to determine your "future successes".

In among this group, are MANY serious, die-hard and first-time drag racers....that were SERIOUSLY OFFENDED, TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, AND TREATED AS OF NO ACCOUNT....by the organizers of the event immediately prior to yours. We know of whom I speak

And my only point here really, is that even though you KNOW that already, is that you may not REALLY realize just how much damage was done to this core-group of racers...by the organizers of this event of which I speak..(it is my firm belief that this group of men who spent great amounts of money at this prior event, will without a doubt, NOT partake or support the organizers of this said event, prior to yours...when the August 3rd date rolls around, which is being advanced as the neXt event "they" will TRY to hold)
DRAG RACERS ARE FED UP OF BEING USED.

So herein, lies the crux of the matter, HOW DO YOU REALLY, WIN THEM OVER, AND NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE?
To see the extent of this damage, wrought onto the drag racers who flocked to that event with their fans in tow, can be seen by the total lack of response to any postings or acknowledgments of the just concluded event on the social media sites...ie: FaceBook and TriniTuner....NOT ONE person has made a remark on TriniTuner to that organizers thread pertaining to that event....the same can be said of the postings on facebook.
AND I AM QUITE SURE NO ONE CAME FOR THEIR TROPHIES....AS YET.

So with this in mind, the onus in on you and your committee to make sure you allay the fears of these die-hard racers that TTUNDRA will not repeat that faux-pas.

END OF QUOTE. I do think many, many racers will support this event, and hopefully rebuild the confidence of the prospective sponsors waiting in the wings...to throw their financial backing behind drag racing. And also that the Ministry together with the MEN WITH PENS... will see that it is not the INDIVIDUALS who divide us that make/break us...IT IS WE THE SPORTSMEN AND WOMEN WHO MAKE (or break) MOTORSPORTS.

Hi,
I do understand your concern. However, kindly note that public liability insurance was secured.

Dante1986,

We at TTUNDRA do admit not having a strong marketing or PR machinery. This we are working on.

The clash is regretted. Thus the reason why our press release indicated such regret. Additionally, a personal phone call was made to Autosport indicate such regret. There's a healthy and respectable relationship between the management of Autosport and TTUNDRA that we believe can help grow the sport.

Nonetheless your point is noted that our scheduling needs some work.

Pernel has always maintained a mature professional attitude towards all. Dear Sir, please continue your endeavour for good sense in an environment of fight down and animosity that dictates the order of the day. My advice, investigative dialogue sort is better that assumptions made, seek advice from those long in the game, and last, beware of civil war. Good Luck ?
