Well fellas, looks like Sunday's official run through Valencia might end up being cancelled after all. Safety seems to be a major concern, esp with such a large group this time.
There are a couple options available for tomorrow though:
1. Blanchisseuse/maracas run with a beach lime - possibly Las Cuevas Trail if it's dry and passable (I got word that it should have been graded down this past week - but we can walk it and see).
2. Morne Diablo run through the trail and to the Mud Volcano and beach. This will depend heavily on the weather, cuz any slight rain can easily turn that Grade 2 trail very quickly into a Grade 3 or even Grade 4. I for one don't really want a repeat of Santa Flora if we can help it - I'd prefer if the trail remained as a proper "Obstacle Course" than a mud pit.
3. Road trip to Salybia with kayaking and trip to Toco lighthouse, possibly to Grand Riviere/shark river. We could lime on the beach, go kayaking on the river, there's lifeguards there so we'd be reasonably safe.
What do you guys say?
I for one don't mind a beach lime. Also Morne Diablo will be MEGA-FUN, but only if it stays dry. If we get wet, then it'll quickly become difficult for our stock vehicles, esp if the group is a large one. There's a mud volcano for us top explore and I'm sure the guys wanna see it, so IMO I think it's better to do that run in the height of dry season, to ensure we all can make it through.
Most likely we can do the blanchi-maracas run, and those who crave off-road action can go check out the Las Cuevas Trail. We'll def. Have to walk it first to make sure it's safe.
Not everyone will be sufficiently updated on the latest status of the run being cancelled, so Droppa and Myself will meet up with u guys in Trincity at 7-7:30am and we'll discuss our options there. We'll leave it up to you guys to decide our route for the day, so whoever shows up can voice their opinion.
Just walk prepared, the usual equipment:
- cooler with food and drinks
- shovel
- tow ropes
- cutlass
- iron grating (if u have
