Mobil 1 10w-30.. since the engine has 60,000km on it..you need a thicker oil that will pill in the little gaps due to wear and tear in the engine..

even try the 20w-50...

good engines can go 300.000 km and still burn no oil even runnin 5w-30. I dare say if you use mobil 1, that probably will be your case. it's overkill but won't hurt. i

^^^depends on how you drive, could be anywhere between 5 and 10 thousand Km's. In my wifes new corolla we use the 5w-50 mobil and I change it every 6-7000kms, it is still usually very clean though, but then it's a new engine. I also use that oil in my GSR and I change it every 5000km's because of the way I drive and the fact that my car is now 12 years old, and still at 5000km my oil is quite clean, however I'm always concerned about the breakdown in the viscosity (sp.) of the oil.

Syntec Oil Change

Postby sweeks » August 8th, 2006, 8:21 pm

Thanks for the reply Loco. I know of new vehicles that run syntec up to 20 000km and then change. My mechanic recommends changing it at 12 000 km. In Europe, they run it for even longer period but I believe the quality of their fuel is of a much higher grade.

I'll probably run out the 12 000km before I change the oil in the wifey's RAV4. On another note, I'm pretty much interested in finding out how it goes with a diesel engine but I'll post up a topic w.r.t. this.
