Considering adding a couple gauges to monitor the status of my D40 as she will be seeing a couple mods performance wise.
Not sure however if an Air/Fuel Ratio gauge would work....checked it on some forums online but that hasn't helped clarify anything much.
Then there's the option to buy a wideband.

Can anyone more knowledgeable on this topic shed some light for me?

I was always curious to know how a wideband O2 sensor would survive in a diesel engine's exhaust system.. I always figured it would get plugged up with soot quickly and start giving erroneous readings.

The narrowband won't work I believe for that same reason.
The wideband however might?
Then there's the use of a pyrometer to measure the EGT which can give you an idea of how rich/lean the air/fuel mixture is..

EGT gauge (pyrometer) is basically the only gauge that can help you determine how your vehicle is running and fuelling... An O2 sensor wouldnt survive very long I suspect

What about dyno tuning to get the mix right? A dyno tune should give you the ideal mix for max horsepower.. then you can tweak from there for a more daily setting etc. (i'm not big into diesel tuning, so correct me if wrong)

Thanks for the input CD4, I'm leaning toward the pyro more now.....just a bit more pricey....

That's something to think about 3stage...I'm new to diesel tuning, so any ideas that may spark a thought are highly appreciated
