so i bought my van from a reposessed sale and its doing 150k now ( i make highway runs daily), recently the van started smoking, usually on inclines and on startup, so if i am going up or down a hill i usually see smoke, its also burning oil, i thought it was the turbo so i bought a used one to test (mine had oil in it when i took the hose out) but the issue is still happening, the only thing i havent done yet is check to see if there is oil in this turbo as well...

where i worked bought a TCE 2.5L 4x2 dmax smoking like a locomotive and making power like a bicycle.

it was doing 150,000 km as well. whoever owned did 0 maintenance. it was a repo as well

pulled turbo and turbo was bad. changed it out for a brand new aftermarket turbo and the smoking stopped but the oil consumption continued at half gallon per week.

ended up having to do a full rebuild replacing all the pistons and gaskets.

turbo was about $5000 from mission sanitation in preysal and all the rebuild parts from southern sales at about $13,000

now it finally working like it supposed to. labour was $3500

sh1t, well i am not having issues with power, the van pulls everything ---- goes up hills without needing gear 1, any other issues can be blamed on the 20 inch rims. this van just smokes on inclines really, not that much but like a cloud and then it eases up. i hope it doesnt evolve itself

what colour smoke you seeing? black is fuel, white is water/coolant and blue is oil.

diesels normally smoke a little bit. maybe you just need a full service, fluids, filters and injectors

more than likely injectors... take is Sookhais and let them run a diagnosis on the injectors.

It has 2 diesel filters(cartridge type) and even the firm using sakura...iirc its F1111 cost around $70
The oil filter is C15670/1 around the same price...ROC has genuine parts and much cheaper than the firm.

Very reliable pickup/workhorse

While the info you stated is generally correct... White is a subjective color... Whitish smoke can also mean incomplete combustion caused by low compression, leaking injectors, or water being injected into the engine from the fuel injectors.
Can't understand why people start at the most expensive part first (turbo) in diagnosing the problem. As stated, get a full service replacing fluids and filters. Use a fuel additive and see where it goes from there.
All engines these days burn oil... It's a matter of how much is being burnt
