Hey tuners, need some advice on my own vehicle. I own a 2010 TDCI Ford Ranger, doing 74k and was going to wash the engine when i saw the intake hose from the air filter box to the turbo had some builded up of some gum {the turbo end}. I proceeded to remove the hose clamp and hose and saw alittle bit of oil in front of the turbo. The hose had some inside as well. I then removed the hose on the top side which delivers the compressed air to the intake manifold. There was a slight stain of oil there too. By the way i have a K&N drop in filter too. I was wondering if it was the oil from the filter, but the oil is dark in colour. There is no lost of power and the vehicle only has one thousand km to do again before next service. The drop in filter has to be serviced too. Any advice tuners................

Thats exactly what it is. ^^ i get the same thing but i recently cleaned out the entire intake system. Filter box, intercooler, hoses, etc. Got a lilttle more response on the throttle when i was done. I recommend doing that every so often. The amount on oil that comes out of your intercooler is ridiculous. What you can do is get an air/oil separator and hook it up between your tappet cover and intake.

On the tapet cover there will be a hose going to the intake, remove a see how much air is coming out the cover while engine is running, this is called blow-by. Blow-by is the amount of air escaping from around the rings of the pistons. If there is alot rings are maybe worn. Oil mist usually comes out this cover and this is your problem most likely.
