It does not make sense to replace your compressor when all that is wrong is the field coil. If your compressor internal is not working efficiently well that's another story.

A new genuine compressor would cost about $4000 plus installation. The entire job to replace the field coil would cost much less than that.

Replace the field coil & you would be fine.
