has anyone ever experienced troubles with their steering rack and any ideas of where to get it checked out.this is a 2008 nissan navara

hey was actually speaking about this on the Tech Tread Nissan , This is a common problem on the Navara on the older models 2010 and back I have had a lot of customers complain and even have to change... from the limited info i got It is a design flaw on the rack design that causes a simple bushing to go bad and how the rack is made up you have to change the entire rack....

yes i saw the part in the tech thread where it was mentioned but i couldnt find any threads talking about it specifically,mine is a 2008 navara so it fits in well with the ones you are describing,does anyone have an idea of the cost and the down time to get this steering rack replaced or repaired?

It is very expensive over 8K and very difficult to ship as it is large...I have a customer that needs to replace his own because of a bushing but he told me he found a work around...will ask hi tom and post his solution...can you describe your specific problem.

dunno why they dont go back to basics with all these vehicles.......more technology the more problems...everything is failing.

i get the rubbing noise occasionally, not all the time though.

Also, since I did my body lift and now that I'm running 305/60R18 tyres, there steering shaft translates a lot more vibrations to the wheel.


M'eh.... so far from what I read and from ppl I spoke to, no real cause for concern.

Yesterday I spoke to someone who repairs them. The RAV4 has a similar issue and it seems as if a bushing get worn after a while.

Mark 729-2636. He does suspension work on Union Road, Marabella.

getting ths repaied but just looking for the steering rack rubbers but will call Neal & Massy in the morning if i dont get through before

ok so the new ones they sell in the showroom now should not have this problem correct??

A simple steering box and a pitman arm setup with tie rods would be perfect

hi bro did you fix your steering rack problem ? a friend of mine had the same issue and got a brand steering rack from a supplier in Trinidad and it was installed in lest than a day tel# 684 7170 i think it cost under tt$ 9,000 new original

I too had the problem with my steering rack. the repair is easy to do, call narry at 3957634 for more info

I have the 2013 Navara and noticed a power steering fluid leak. Someone checked it for me and said it was the steering rack.

Will check Mark in Marabella and see what he recommends.
