B2500 - Front end sqeek/squeel

Postby Dan20 » September 30th, 2012, 6:00 pm

Hi all,

Trying to find out where a metallic squeel is coming from to the front left of vehicle.

I had the vehicle serviced hoping it was something needing lubricating. The noise went away for about a day then came back.

Also applied some belt dressing to all the belts so dont seem to be that.

Mostly hear in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, then dont hear it in 4th and 5th. Only comes on when you press gas but not when coasting.

Any help is appreciated.

not sure what exactly is a "metallic squeel"
but some guys on the forum are also experiencing squeaking caused by the front cross on their B2500 and BT50. Depending on your speed beyond 3rd you may break the frictional barrier within the cross hence no noise.

Hello All

I narrowed down the noise to the Universal Joint. Blowing some spray grease on them until I can get them replaced. That seems to keep the noises at bay.
