Anyone has first hand experience with using tractor tires on a pick up?
rubbing issues, diff or steering issues with the added traction?
what size rim is normally needed for this, dia and width.
where else beside dean sells the tires?

Om hardcoreyouth. He ran tractors on his frontier for the recent trailblazers rally. Went up the king of the hill in rain, no problem.
The guy with the red d22 nissan runs tractors for our side b runs, he ran them for the recent rally and he made it throug the special stage with no problems, he even reversed down the hill and did it over again just to show off.
Only problem with tractors besides terrible road handling is you get loads of forwrds grip but hardly any lateral grip, so you'll slide sideways on a hill or wont be able to climb out ruts.
Closest mud tyres to tractors are either superswampers or kumho kl71

As my bighorns are half way down it has got me on the topic of tires. The maxxis have reallly been good and only let me down in thick clay basically a tractor was unable to pull me out due to slippage. i will most probably go back with them as my daily A/T.
Earlier in the year i have been thinking about swampers and cutting everyother lug out of it, but then i might as well go tractors for the mud season.
not it trinidad at the moment, but anyone know the cost of the Baja claw and the cost of tractors roughly?? i know the swampers are close to 2k for one which is rediculas.
thankx all

How many miles have u got out of the bighorns, jd? I know u said they're ur dailies, but can i ask how many miles u drive on average?
Id say for the money, kumho kl71 would give u very good off road performance while keeping a civil pavement ride. The aggressive lugs dig verywell, i've seentheminaction myself andthey self clean extremely well.
Not sure on the price but i believe its around the same price as thebighorns in your size, if not a lil bit more.

The Tractors havent failed me as yet! They are great off road and i drive them very hard on normal road going straight. They are not good at all for hanging corners. Worst is when rain is falling! They only down side to these tires is that u have to take ur time cornering and on wet road and they wont be able to fix most stock height vehicles. Another thing is that the HUMMM alot while driving and virbrate. I had to chop up my wheel welds in the frontier just for it to fit and it still touches sometimes! I ripped out a flare just last week sunday with trailblazers. They cost alot and they will grind down really fast on constant road driving. The tractors are the same size as 35" tires. I think the red nissan light hammer talking about his tractors are smaller than the ones i have on. They are cheaper and work just as fine just smaller and u wont have to get much clearance for the tires to fit.

When im in trinidad 8 months of the year roughly, i drive north to south everyday, plus alot of beach trips to the north coast (avg almost 800km/week). though i drive slow on the highway, on the beach trips i drive more spirited, little drifts when safe etc. i have seen more wear to the front though due to heavy braking. All in all i got about 22000Km already, the rear are almost half and the front is just below half. They are a damn good A/T tire, and will recommend them to anyone.
i ve had them next to KL 71's and on the road the maxxis are smoother with regards to vibration. offroad i do think the maxxis are better as there are smaller lugs but with close to the same spacing as the KL so cleaning in mud is good and you will get more bite's per rotation. I do believe that the KL71's will last longer on the road as its a larger lug and more HD, and their cheaper. Im thinking of running them next if i find the size.

Well its either i get a set of tires and rims, or a dirt bike, so its a tough decision. But, size of rim were u running (Dia and width) how much roughly per tire, i can fit a 33 max, dont need the best, just somthing to play around with
