Mitsubishi Triton 2012 with CNG?? Pics up

Postby catalan24 » September 23rd, 2011, 9:58 pm

Hey peeps, my bro went to M. Rampersad's this week only to notice the new triton available, however he didn't take no engine pics which defeats the purpose on what engine its running to hold a cng tank in the tray lol. But on another note its a 4X2 manual priced at $230,000. They said the 4X4 model is $330,000. Sorry about the limited pics as well folks.

Just FYI, diesel engines run fine on CNG and propane.
There are some aftermarket propane injection kits which raise horsepower by 20%

The new model triton (i.e. the 2011 model that came out int he UK and Australia) has a longer tray with a flatter top edge, and it's running the 4M41 2.5 Commonrail VNT turbo. Makes 175HP and 403NM torque, IIRC (a lil more than a Navara, but just barely  ).

Mitsubishi is no longer making it with the 3.2L 4M41 engine, only the 2.5L now.
Like they following Nissan awatt??

On the inside - it's basically the same.

From doing research I think this one is running the 2.4 gas engine...

Also if I were to inquire about what engine this is running from those sales rep's in m. Rampersad they would most likely give me wrong information just like they always do.

From link above ^^^

Based from Mitsubishi Triton Double Cab PLUS 2.4 petrol series, the new model will be equipped with CNG system under company standard with warranty that can run on benzene up to Gasohol E20 and CNG. This model still features with a unique design cargo bed. The CNG tank type II with 100 liter water capacity is located on cargo bed

Looks like its not a diesel engine... me dunno...

there is no such thing as a 4M41 2.5L engine

4M41 always WAS and ALWAYS will be a 3.2L engine

the 2.5L engine always was a 4D56

mitsubishi does not place the same code for an engine with different sizes

such as 3.2L and 2.8L 4M41 or a 2.5L and 2.0L 4D56

there are petrol models that have either:

3.5L 6G74 24v SOHC V6 or
2.4L 4G64 24v SOHC L4

engines

article mentioned 2.4L 4-cylinder gasoline engine,

the current shape\2006-present models have the 2.4L 4G64 engine

so this CNG model most likely will have the same 4G64, adapted for CNG or

it may be the 4G69 (from the outlander) :?:

paid a visit to M. Rampersad today. had a long discussion with the owner, he wasplaying salesman for the day. he said this will be the first and last cng vehicle he would bring. it was intentionally brought in as a sample for the tender for supply of 300 cng power vehicles for NGC. unfortunately, it was turned down because:

NGC wants
automatic
4WD

the one in the showroom is 2.4 gas 5 fwd rear wheel drive. from their research, this is not available since the CNG model was designed for long haul driving and not to carry excessive load or off roading. no triton was built CNG, automatic 4wd.

you know - these importers get tax breaks for importing CNG vehicles - it was in the last budget - why cant they pass these on to the consumer? The government need to regularize these dealers on the amount of markup they make on each vehicle

Good incentives ... besides M. Rampersad, are any of the local dealerships bringing any vehicles with factory installed kits? TTTL /Diamond Motors /Classic Motors etc

If I wanted a RAV4 with an oem CNG kit would TTTL bring it in for me?

The only Qualified Lisenced and Experience installers in Trinidad for CNG is Automotive Components in Omera Rd Arima and I think at present the install is really cool.

NGC ended up getting the CNG Triton 4x4

it as a 2.5L diesel engine with a VG turbo.

We have 3 sporteros and this one is faster in terms of acceleration. ...especially when the CNG is added.

The transmission is tiptronic btw and it runs very good...the only issue i would have is the tires they put on it, it makes the ride shitty

other than that it is a very nice vehicle....idk what size the tank is in the back but it takes $16 CNG max

I spied this triton on the HW yesterday. It looks and performs really good. A sales rep at Diamond Motors said they supplied the vehicle for NGC testing.

You did not exactly spy a vehicle that is being driven without camouflage on a public road.

^^I resist the urge to insult you and instead take the higher road and educate you. Definition of "SPY" used as a verb means "to catch sight of". You know what is a verb?

Anyhow, I just saw another one in south, pic below.

NESC in point lisas did some installs with the cng. Honestly it looks excellent from how they installed it. I didn't test drive any so can't really comment. But the install is very clean and efficient.

The vans perform really well better than the regular Sportero with both power and speed.
The suspension seems to be the same as the Sportero (from a driver point of view).

Pricing on the vans atm the vans are not for sale to the general public but it would be in the near future aprox (1-2mths) from the info I got and the Price is not set as yet.

And just to clear it up wit regards to NESC.
NESC isn't doing any work on the van.
Diamond Motors are the ones doing the work.
Secondly the vans came with the CNG kit installed, Diamond Motors are just doing some modification as requested by the customer.
