check sookhai diesel or if your in central - check Ford Specialist just off the triangle in chase village
more than likely you need a tuneup and change your glow plugs

The ford ranger WLT and WLC engines do burn a bit more diesel than the other brands. The average mileage per tank is about 450km per tank, somtimes 500km max.
Try doing a major servicing. Since it's an older model, 2008, it's got a good few years of service left on it, but there's no way to really know what kind of abuse it took before you got it, nor how well the previous owner took care of it (even if they claim to change oil regular).
- change oil (15W40) and oil filter: you can get original filters from ROC in bamboo. If your engine is the WLT direct-injection (i.e. the air filter box is square), then you can use a mineral oil or a mineral/synthetic blend. I'd recommend Shell Rimula R4 15W40. If your engine is the WLC TDCi Common Rail engine (round air filter box), then you should use a synthetic oil - I'd recommend Amsoil 15W40 or any other reputable oil brand like Gulf, Shell etc.
- If you're gonna run mineral/blended oil, be sure to change at 5,000km intervals. With synthetic you can get away with 7500-10,000km intervals, but try not to go beyond that cuz your oil filter might not last so long.
- Also try to get the radiator coolant flushed, hoses inspected, seals and brackets checked. Make sure your cooling system isn't leaking or losing coolant. The WLT engine has a small history of cracked head's, even if the engine never overheated before. The WLC/TDCi engine doesn't seem to have this problem.
- Flush and refill the differential oil. I can't remember what viscosity grade to use, but it might be listed on the Ford Thread - or you can call McEarney Motors service and parts dept directly and ask.
- Check all your belts, these should be changed every 25,000 km ideally, but you can push it up to 50,000km
- have your exhaust system checked to make sure there's no extra leaks or cracks in the pipes. Loss of pressure in the exhaust can lead to less available exhaust flow to spool up the turbo
Finally - remember that it's a diesel you're driving, so dont' expect to launch off the line as if you have a 2-juzzy injin under the bonnet. The Ford Ranger is fast, but it's more powerful than fast.

also forgot to mention - change your fuel filter as well. No sense having good oil/radiator when your fuel filter might be clogged up and starving the engine of diesel.

What is the mileage on the Ranger? - if you have the manual - you can check and see what you need to service.

Drain and flush the fuel system as well.
If you do all of the above servicing related items and you still have a problem, then I would be worried..

I mean, he could always just hook up a boost gauge and see exactly whats going on...
If the boost is spiking or not inreasing gradually clearly he either has turbo or boost leak issues..
Its highly unlikely that such a new vehicle will have trubo trouble though.. I will much quicker suspect clogged injectors/in need of a good tune up

Thanx very much guys for all the info. the van is now doing 24k kms i brought it @ 14300kms but still the same problem. cleaned the injectors as well as serviced the pump on the machine business in Tableland, Princes Town. But still does'nt seem to be launching and picking up as it should. Also ,did fuel filter, air filter, oil, oil filter and changed the plugs......But same problem. The van is on 20's so donno if that is important. SORRY FOR NOT REPLYING SOONER. SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??

Was it always on 20's or did it only appear lazy after you changed to 20's? Did it come with the 20's?
When you change rims, it changes your final drive ratio so that could be a cause. ie. You have essentially increased your gear ratio with the 20's and as a result the ranger has a lot less low end..
Do you know anyone with the stock wheels who will lend you a borrow for a few hours to diagnose?
Im just speculating

Thanks for the number.... I wonder if they do diesel tuning.. As in, increased boost and increased fueling by adjustments to the fuel pump...
I guess i go have to call for that..

Those 20s killing the van.
Call Brown 6844883 and talk to him. He has the patience and experience to work through this. He's located in Couva. He also owns a mazda pickup.

Thanks for the info hightower... I need to give these people a call and find out what sort of labour charges they will have to take out the injectors and tune the pump..
Doing my research on the forums, people told me that the pump can be adjusted in multiple ways to get better boost and therefore power on these engines.. Wonder if those fellas in tableland know about rotating the diaphragm 90 degrees and adjusting the various fueling screws... We will see, but I need to get my gauges on first..

CD4Accord those guys would change all the seals, washers and gaskets in the pump using an original kit, then they would use an automated system that they use to calibrate the pump. But they are the specialists so i guess they would know what you speaking about.

Thanks again hightower.. You have me convinced that they are the people to do the service job on the vehicle...
I just hope they can complete it within one day, definitely wouldnt want to have to leave and drive back down there..
Thanks again

I can't really help you on finding the turbo to purchase, but can I ask why you need to purchase one? Whats wrong with the one you have?
