Depends on what u want the vehicle for. For comfortable ride, better resale, easiest to drive (esp for females) - Rav 4.
For practicality, best cargo room, ruggedness, occasional off-roading : X Trail
Best fuel economy, cheapest parts: Tucson.

Taz1006 you left out the biggest comparison; Price. In my opinion and I am a little, just a little, biased to Diesel, I would prefer the Tucson for mid size SUV range. I think its well worth the price for what you get. Believe there is still a > 4 month wait time because of demand?
If price was not a problem to start with, and you're looking at the SUV; check out the bigger guys as well.. Fortuner, Pathfinder, Everest.

Easy choice, out of that set, i'd take the Rav4 without doubt. Toyota reliability, performance & fuel economy is legendary. Plus, the new Xtrail and Tucson kinda ugly. The Honda CRV is a great choice also, not as fast as the Rav4 but just as reliable, excellent interior and dash design, and very good fuel economy.
My pops has a 2006 CRV and it's a well designed vehicle. Honda clearly put alot of though into its design..
For comfort, economy and reliability, Honda and Toyota are the leading candidates..

...AND then dont buy a Toyota.

Yup I agree with you all the way there!
If the budget permits: Rav4. I have seem these little things run. Though the new ones are beautiful inside, cant beat 9 air bags eh? Have seem these perform offroad too! Amazing what it can do...
X-trail still comes with the plastic fenders? The quality inside is okay... Fuel economy? Joking right? 4WD system is... quirky.
I have a personal bias against ever owning anything Hyundai... never again. Plus it ugly inside and out!
As you were

Tough choice .... It all depends on what you want.
Had a couple Rav4s and Crvs .... Not a bad choice but I somehow prefer the built and quality of the older models.
The Koreans are good value for money.

The US based version of the RAV4 has 3rd row seating but it's tight.

X-Trail? I find the xtrail's ride quality is very poor, the front end sounds like an ole car. I've seen all three vehicles put through the same tests making runs from POS to Guaya and back, the xtrail always needed suspension work the Tuscon and Rav-4 lasted with any major out problems. Not to mention the xtrail torque when trying to overtake, climb hills etc. The Tuscon is a great vehicle but i'll still go for the Rav-4 wrt quality and resale if i'm not bothered by it being Gas
