Hey Guys I was just wondering whats the best way to lower the back of my hilux by 2-3 inches

Most guys in here more concerned about rausing their 4x4

You prob have to remove some of the rear spring lifts

Thanx Stello but i heard its a problem to use drop blocks on the 4x4 because of the location of the springs in relation to the Diff...But on the 4x2 it could be used.

And I am just interested in leveling the back by a lil,not interested in making it a "low rider".
I heard that flipping the main lift spring was an option,any opinions on that Venum?
Just want to mentain the "work-ability" of the van,meaning still being able to carry loads etc. without it bouncing all over the place.

how about raining the front some? That would be better than trying to fig the back to lower. drop me a line I have some stuff that can raise the front about 2.5 inches

from my experience with leaf springs

the main lift spring and 1st helper are the real workers

those are responsible for the main load bearing capability

the other lifts\leaves are mainly there for support when the main lift takes on teh weight

as the main lift takes on weight it straightens out (less curvature)

then the helpers are really lined up to support the main lift

removal of teh helpers will bring the diff and banjo closer to the road lowering the rear, depending on how many you have\remove

you will not really decrease the load bearing capability doing this

BUT . . .

you will decrease the driveability of the truck while loaded

when the lifts are straightened out under load and teh rear wheel hit a bump, the spings do not flex much as teh helpers together with teh shock absorbers damp the oscillation

without the helpers, the main lift will flex upwards when the rear wheels hit a bump as there will not ne as much dampening - the rear will be bouncy

but that will be under heavy\full load

if you flip teh main lift what\how you doing with teh helpers

and you will need longer shackles

then you really screwing the load carrying capacity

i would do as James suggested - raise teh front instead

Will consider raising the front and come off roading with u all.So consider another hilux joining the mix.

Aren't the front supported by torsion bars in the hilux?
If so you can raise the front in 10 minutes by tightening them a bit {remember to count the no. of turns on either side}.

be careful and don't over do as ur suspension may bottom out and ride like crap, also the geometry may change when adjusted and ur camber may also need adjustment.

I am on south trunck road before the dansteel just south of sando. The lift kit includes
New rear leaf springs
New Struts and springs (not thorsion bars those are on fords, mazda, and the dmax)
Shocks x4
and greasable shackels / pins
Poly bushings
takes about two hours to replace and then need a wheel alignment
So far all of my customers love the way the truck rides after I am done gives alot more control on and off road. 2 year 40,000km warranty

Front torsion bar can be adjusted as well

the hilux does not have thorsen bars it has struts
