Could any of you diesel experts tell me if my frontier with a QD32 has a timing belt or chain and when or if it needs to be changed

The QD32 engine does not have a timing belt or chain, it has timing gears and these gears do not require changing as oppose to a timing belt being changed @ 100,000km.

gears man, gears. the crank has a gear which drives the camshaft, oil pump and fuel pump. its one of the most reliable traits of the TD and QD engines

^^^yea, most likey cuz its 16V DOHC. its so much easier to change a HG on a pushrod engine, must be hell on the ZD30 especially in an E25
