Powerbox CR Diesel Tuning Chip For Mitsubishi L200
Any tuners use this or any similar product?
What were the results?
Product Claims as follow:
For Mitsubishi Common Rail Systems
Up to 25% increase in power and 30% increase in torque
Improved fuel efficiency (an average of 2.5 MPG!)
Includes OEM plugs (no soldering required)
No increased emissions
No interference to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU); original settings are not altered
Will not harm your engine, does not increase injection pressure
Will not alter engine diagnostics functioning
Will not interfere with engine error code sensing
HOW IT WORKS :
The PowerBox CR works by modifying the electronic signals that control fuel pressure produced by the pump in order to optimize engine performance. The PowerBox CR senses and responds to changes in engine load/speed throughout the range of acceleration. With the PowerBox CR, pressure accumulates faster in the rail and is readily maintained to deliver more power and torque. The result is smooth and responsive acceleration that produces sportier handling. The increased torque produced by the PowerBox enables the engine to operate more efficiently, so fuel consumption is minimized.
The PowerBox CR is equipped with plugs that are compatible with those in your vehicle. With the instructions provided, an inexperienced driver can complete the installation in 5 minutes on most models. The PowerBox CR will not override the safe operating parameters of your engine and does not change or interfere with ECU functioning.

Check teh guys on L200 Ownwers Club (
http://www.l200.org.uk)
several of them use similar ones on their 2001, 2003 and 2005 models.
pretty sure that couple of them use it on teh newer L's with the DiD engines
suppose to be essentially a piggy-back
but teh crap diesel that we get here, I'm not too sure I would want to try that
heard rumors that DM detunes teh 4D56 DiD's that they bring to be better compatible with our diesel, but not sure how true this is.
with that performance enhancement and poor diesel, I would be careful

ECT Solutions Ltd. has tested these units on the L200 3.2 DID and the difference is very noticeable. We will be carrying out dyno tests locally on the L200 and Toyota Hilux in the next week. The product we will be promoting will be avaialble for just about any make of Diesel Injection vehicles - e.g. BMW X5 to FORD Ranger to Nissan Navara, Hyundai Tuscon and Santa Fe.

After Device is installed

The device only affects the rate of diesel injection and does not interfere with fuel pressure or the ECU (Brainbox).

We will check and get back to you.
In your case a unit that adjusts the pump may be required.
Also bear in mind that a 20-25% increase in power of a non turbo engine that does less than 80HP may not be significant enough to justify the cost of the device.
More power can be gained from installing the Turbo for the same price. And given the low cost of diesel in T&T, the 10% saving on fuel works out to $5 - $8 per tank and would take years to pay back for its cost.
Ideal vehicles would be Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi L200 Sportero/Triton, Isuzu DMAX, Hyundai Tucson/Santa Fe/Trajet

As explained before, there is no adjustment made to fuel pressure, just injection rate. These units do not interfere with the factory maps.
We have been using these units for almost a year on the L200 3.2 Sportero/Triton and Toyota Hilux. Both of which are serviced regularly by the local dealers and undergo the standard diagnostics.
They are manufactured in Europe where thousands have been installed.
The Euro is quite low and the prices for the devices have fallen by 20%.
Now would be a good time to order one.
PM me and I can arrange a test drive and quote.

just to clarify
the ones I mentioned were on the SOHC direct injection 8V 4D56T, back in 2008/2009
there have been improvements in the technology and the ones that are used on the 4D56 DiD have better results
