ok my turn now:

1. for those of you that have done the power steering fluid flush, does the steering ever get back to its nice solid feel? I know I read some of you talk about the looser than usual feel, but I didn't realize it was this bad; this feels like a subcompact car to me :S If this is how it's going to stay, I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone.

2. I put in a K&N drop in air filter last night, cleaned the MAF sensor, did the ECU reset, and took it out for a drive. Whilst driving down the highway, I noticed that when I used the indicator or went over certain bumps, the lights seemed to flicker, the fog lights came off, and at one point the main lights turned off as well :S . This morning I checked the battery and the terminal connections, and both were fine. Any ideas on what caused this, and how to fix it?

I did the fluid change and I got a slightly stiffer steering that softened in time, back to norm

did u use the correct grade fluid :?:

Yes, but you are not going to like it

the lights flicker and function weird because of the wiper controller

the steering has 2 stalks - one for lights and one for wipers

the light stalk is connected to the wiper stalk and then to the main harness

you would have to changed the wiper stalk

I had these issues

you can remove the steering column trim and play with the harness a bit for some temporary relief . . . but it comes back

had the exact symptoms that you did

used Amsoil ATF. I'll monitor it though, and update accordingly.

that is pretty weird :? but at least I know what I'm dealing with now, thanks :)
you wouldn't by any chance remember where you got the replacement stalk, price paid, and all that?

Amsoil ATF - same that I used

check that you do not have any air bubbles in the lines to cause the loose feeling

jack up front wheels and turn wheels full lock left to right continously

Foots in Penal for the stalks
647-9254

Bella in Felicity
682-7179

was $1200.00 when i bought

I stopped using the K&N air filter. It wasn't causing any problem, just had to clean the MAF more often and I was worried about more dust getting into the engine.

The power steering still feels soft, but I prefer it that way.

Gentlefolks,
Can anyone recommend a wheel upgrade that will give me some size/width, but won't require a body/ susp lift?
Hoping to go with some wide 17's (maybe 17x9 or 17x9.5) and maybe run 275/70 17 or 265/70 17

Anyone did similar?

All 3 filters changed, got Fram fuel filter, filled it with Amosoil Diesel conc
Lubed suspension and driveshaft crosses.

The SPIII was my call, the old fluid was really terrible. I thought the bottle was full, it was stained black and the fluid smelled strange.
Will run it for a bit as a flushing agent and replace again soon.

Thinking about going plus one on the wheels and running the 265-70 17. Since I'll be spending some coin on new shoes, I may try to land some wide wheels to toughen her up a bit.

undecided on this. I hear wheel wizard have some badass selections.

guys, I have a general question on T-registered vehicles. What does the law state when it comes to removing annual inspection stickers? Is there a time frame or can we just remove and replace the stickers every year, so we'd only have one sticker showing :?:

same happened with mine

I used carb spray to soak the bottle to get rid of the black "stain", which is actually sludge adhering to the sides of the bottle

I flushed completely during the change, but if you run it for a few weeks and change, it will be a better flush

i would recommend to stay with the 16" rims on the grounds of ease of tyre shopping only

even though you keeping the stock 265 width in 17" or even 18", good tyres in those sizes not easily or readily found

unless you plan to import your tyres when needed, then go strong

believe me, only in last couple years have we been getting a wide variety of tyres in 16", previously 15" dominated the market

i was gonna upgrade to 265\60\18 but in doing some research, there were only few options in that size and very much more expensive than a 265\70\16

Wheel Wizzard sucks totally when it comes to small rims, if u want 20's then they are your place

try M. Ramrattan in Marabella\Vistabella

saw some ok ones there recently

Persad (just after Police Station) and Roston in Debe

Persad is the place of choice as he is dirt cheap for the same stuff you will see by Ramrattan and Roston

Gents,
Anyone know the door speaker sizes (F + R) on the 2007 Local sportero?
The audio I got with the van sounds like horsecrap and since I spend a good amount of time in traffic (2-3 Hours per day), I think I'll do a simple upgrade.

Mitsu, usually has good speakers

their factory stock are low powered ~ 15W, but perform great for that low power

DM orders the Sportero WITHOUT factory music and installs lower end Pioneer headunits

they are great units, but on the economy range for Pioneer

if the speakers sounding like crap, then maybe they got wet

Agreed, just change the head unit and you would see a good difference. Just look for a good Hu.

I think the 2 of the 4 speakers themselves are shot (scratchy), plus the HU has some reception probs.
