You can get these around, I saw them at one of the marine shops.. great for eye-balling your fuel quality via the clear bowl on the filter... note that this will obviously not replace the stock filter, just run inline before the stock water trap/filter.

I had these installed on our fleet. They served as pre filters. Unfortunately they affected the fuel flow on our mechanicla pumps. So we ended up getting cleaner fuel but less power. They were then removed

Sounds reasonable more restriction less flow therefore less power!

will there be any damage to the pump by installing a prefilter? And also how much power is really lost if installed.

i think because the common rail system pressurizes the fuel rail and has a return it shouldn't affect the fuel flow to the engine. its a common upgrade to the aus hilux's and that pic is actually fitted toa 3.0 d4d like mine...

I have reviewed a couple Aussie and South African websites and have noticed that most toyota owners (d4d engine) install these to mitigate against water damage. I have also seen that in addition to the prefilter, another filter <5 microns is placed after the OEM canister/filter to provide addtional filtration.

with that kit there is no need for the body mount chop once the right offset wheels are used.

FYI - the 2005+ Tacoma and the 2005+ Hilux use the same suspension, and this kit as about $350 USD is a steal of a deal compared to the $800 USD++ most ppl want for Hilux specific kits which are identical ;)

Anyone interested, my 255/70R16 BF Mud Terrains will eb for sale very soon... less than 1500km's on them.

nice setup there, bilsteins are excellent shocks (a bit higher rated than rancho's and king koils, and about the same or better than Old Man Emu / ARB).

Are those the re-valveable and adjustable versions?

droppa, i hear u and understand what you're saying, but I don't have the time to go off-roading, even though I love it. so, in my view, spending all that money to lift a truck for just the aggressive look isn't worth it. that's just my view right now. who knows, in the future things may change.

the white Lux will more than likely never go offroad, but to fit those 33" tires under there you gotta lift it.. more tire = more rubber = more grip (street/offroad).

You gotta pay to play! ;)

Re: 2006 D4D 3.0 4x4 Hilux - New Injectors - HKS F-Con D??

Postby Bezman » November 4th, 2013, 9:41 am

Just a little update, recently the HIlux has gotten allot of love and attention, aka, money spent on her.

I did the 100k Service at Toyota, and also did some preventative maintenance as well and changed the water pump. I then did a full fuel system service and got new Injectors from Sookhai's Diesel Service which made the world of difference in the van.

So since the van is working so well and I have decided to keep her around for a while again. I am going to go ahead and install the Bilstein Shocks on all four corners.

Front are Bilstein 5100's and rears are Bilstein 5125's. will post pics soon.
The fronts offer 1-3" lift and the rears will accommodate up to a 2" lift.

Bilstein (24-186711) 5100 Series FRONT - 1-3" Lift via adjustable spring perch.
Bilstein (33-185552) 5125 Series REAR - 10" travel.

But the real thing I am looking at is the HKS F-Con D. It is a piggy back chip made exclusively for the 1KD-FTV and give up to 40PS (approx 50hp) increase and gobs of torque.

Diesel fuel increasing device for TOYOTA HIACE KDH200 series that is popular base vehicle for customization.
About 40PS will be increased for 1KD-FTV engine (late model) and about 20PS for 2KD-FTV engine. 20 - 30% enhancement from stock engine.

Features
Diesel fuel increasing device [1KD/2KD-FTV engine (HIACE KDH200#)]
1 By increased torque, number of kick down will be decreased and decreased throttle angle may improve fuel consumption.

Installation
F-COND has a connector for harness and 7 wires of the harness will be connected directly to vehicle harness of ECU side. (Modification is required.)
ON <---> OFF switch is available for easy recovery to stock control.

http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product/e ... index.html

Ordering it today, going to ask Ryan at United Performance to install as I know he is familiar with the HKS F-Con..

There is also a FULLY programmable F-CON iD for Common Rial Diesel engines.
http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product/e ... index.html

Was going to ask Sookhai's of they can install and tune, but dont want to go aftermarket turbo and bigger injectors etc. I think the regular plugin chip/module will work fine..

More updates soon.
