Tyre performance cannot be determined by how the tyre looks. Based on some statements made, AT tyres would perform horribly in the wet pavement based on looks...

I have to disagree, give a noob a vehicle equipped with MT tyres and he can look like a hero on trails! I have personally seen experienced off roaders making rookie mistakes when they are given stock vehicles to drive on trails.. From what I saw, MT tyres does cure stupid..

Tyre performance can be determined by how the thread pattern looks.. It just depends on if you know what you are looking for.. lol

Fine... noobs with gear look good too...

speedy dont let them jimny tie u up, they have a unique weight balance that is mathched to to a gear ratio and if its those u saw from TTORC, some have diff lockers, they do their runs mostly on 2wd, and only engage 4wd when they really have to........

LDG used to have falken tyres, dunno if they have now. All they has is kumho, continental and Goodyear.

How about masterserv, mileage mack or automotive components?

I'm looking for an odd sized tyre and only Falken and Toyo makes it. Mileage Mack has to order that specific size as it's a non stock item.. 4 months delivery time!

Nice discussion..

Michelin HT 245/70R16 vs Hercules 215/70R16 AT

The narrower and AT rated Hercules is gripping ALOT better than the HT rated Michelins on dry road conditions. Why?

-Both sets of tyres are worn close to their wear indicators.
-The Michelins skid quite easily in corners
-Both sets tested on the same vehicle, same road, same conditions..

peeps,
i`m on my second set of BFG`s - hands down these tyres are worth it!.

Had "Land terrains" before and it was well behaved on the road and modest off , no complaints did 83,000 kms and it still had another 5000 in them, cept for 2 punctures (<- and a compelling factor to change)

Changed to the All terrains - Triguard, a week ago, and so far i cant complain. very slight road noise and for the 'soft roading' that i`ve done so far - no complaints. highly recommend them , when compared to what else is available in the market - Kumhos @ 1200, roadstone roadian @720, 800, there were some other brands, cant remember, but the prices were a few hundred off for a set at best.

I just called and was quoted $1700.16 Vat inclusive, with the special you buy one and get the second at half price, therefore if I want four, I only pay for three and that puts the total at around $5100.48 Vat Inclusive. Anyone have any other options apart from roadstone at a more reasonable price? I would prefer AT's but my van is for sale so I don't really want to spend $5100 on tires now.

Federal has the Terra Tracs and All Tracs at around $1000 each IIRC.. call and confirm.. excellent tyres both on and off road!
