governed by the desire for social elevation and driven by the need to be in the loop of things. There are many persons with smartphones who do not utilise all of the capabilities within the devices.”

We live in a shallow society that's self-obsessed and driven by materialistic gains. Everyone wants social recognition but lacks in personal substance and character to back it up. So what's the easiest thing to do? Cover yourself in glittery, shiny objects designed to catch the eye and make everyone like you - but not for who you are, it's more about what you have.

Tell me this.... who gonna buy a $300+K vehicle and then use it for what it REALLY was designed and engineered for? All those fancy, shiny advertisments we see on TV and on youtube where a nice brand new Ranger is being driven harder than any regular buyer is ever gonna push it - how many people gonna actually use their vehicle that way?

That is the core reason why I think it's a waste of money - but that's my own opinion. I'm not someone with a six-figure salary, I now starting out in life and have bills to pay, wife to see about, etc. - but in these kind of economic climates, who doesn't need an extra dollar saved up?? I can't take this kind of nonsense nah, steups.

See, the difference between us and them, is we keep our trucks dirty (mine sitting in the garage right now, the Santa Flora mud still damp on the sides & front & wheels) while theirs always shiny and crims down.

So if the "Offroad Mudder Look" is the new rice - that means it's "Brown Rice" then??

:D :D

I still find the new one looks bulbous
imho this is the best looking ranger model:

no doubt the newer one is very capable, and more than likely, much more comfortable to live with everyday, but I'm sorry that price is redonkulous  but anyway, most of these new vehicles seems to be bought as fleet/ company vehicles, so as usual, it's the average man that gets the shaft :?

AGREED X 1,000,000,000.

I think that's the BESTEST looking ranger of all of the local models.
Wish that Ford had stuck with that design, and made it more tougher looking like the current 2012 F150.

^^you need to remember ,thats where the market is moving too - the consumers demand more technology, more safety, more comfort and more power.

I really really like the new ranger - it is more aggressive and powerful than before- if it wasn't for the price i would sell my ranger in the morning to get the new one.

^^well you have to remember too that they change alot of things in this model, from the engine - 5cylin - 200bhp 3.2L turbo 6 speed, with sport mode etc. Locking Diff, Increase Size ( same size as Navara and height - tall as the hilux) Alot of tech gadgets such as bluetooth , voice activation, dual zone a/c, coolbox etc.
All of these things including the extensive research team that perfected the ranger - drive up the cost to where it is now.

^import taxes are a lot more for a 3.2 vs a 2.5 eh....remember there are a number of factors that send up the prices.....

import duty (based on engine size and value)
registration free (based on engine size)
vat
shipping

I took those pics last night....needed to see it in person...and it's awesome. I stood by the show room window with another Ranger owner and as we discussed the new beast...I was told only 300 came into T&T, most if not ALL already sold. Colors are blue, white and maybe some variation of a red. I'm glad to see Ford stepping up to the plate, and I think the all new 2012 Ranger will dominate the local market.

Truth is I really don't think we should turn this thread into criticism for a vehicle we all love.

If I could afford it, I'll definitely purchase one, but being realistic other priorities in a man's life come into play! Lets work harder so we can afford the things we enjoy.

Same here..
I really like it, but the price is kind of high.

Its hard to pay that price for a vehicle that I would want to use offroad. The risk of damaging something is always present, and the cost to fix it is always going to be looming over your head.

If my intentions with my 4x4 were mostly street and the rare drive on a slippery lawn, or climbing a pavement in movietowne, I would buy it!

The look really nice in up close.... you guys should make a pass by the stealership to drool like me

If I had the paper to burn, I'd get another one. But I already have what I wanted in the truck I got.... for more than a $100K less in price.

Government taxes are a beyotch :!:

one thing it should have , is lights on the doors , that way it light up the ground when you open the door. Very usefull when you open the doors in pitch black darkness. Park lights do come on when you hit the unlock for the remote, when its dark. Light sensitive sensors are a plus.

There are alot of little things that are added that make this so appealing but damn dude - I really wish if they can drop 100K from that price.

I agree civic minded. Apart from its awesome brawn and capabilities its those little things that puts the icing on the cake. e.g. that power outlet in the tray; those storage bins under the backseat, the usb port....ahhhhhhhh list goes on!

We will see what happens to the price as time passes.
