3" is what I see the boys in Aus run without loosing too much low end.

Fitted some BF Goodrich KM2's yesterday, only had 255/70x16 and of course the Hilux swallowed them up  works out to a little taller than 30" and 10" wide... It was between these and 33x12.5x15 KM2's and those looked kinda rediculously wide on the van and have too much sidewall... also running wider than 11.5" tires and most 33" tall tires on the Hilux means cutting the body mount and lots of issues with the upper control arm touching the tires..

IMG_2608.jpg

I think I am going to go 32" or 33" whenever they get in stock again next year and sell these.. but anyway, I am happy with how it looks for now (till the van is raised and bull bar installed )

IMG_2614.jpg

Was bored and decided to paint part of the front bumper and moved the license plate last night when I got home.. next up... bullbar

IMG_2622.jpg

 and of course as I hit submit on this post, Christian from Milage Mack calls to say they got in some 275/70/16 (32") all terrains and mud tires

Yeah I got them at Quick Service... They were ~$1700 a tire and they have a deal where you buy 3 and get one free (finishing this Sat)

I realized these KM2's like gold... 32x11.5x16 (265/70x16) are in order ASAP..

I'm gonna be testing them out this weekend at one of our surf spots.. will do a little gopro vid.

Going to go and get my alignment check again and also get the white writing swapped to the outside I think... (tire guy told me to do it yunno) I am also going to paint the stock wheels black I think..

I know these work, besides cuevas, we have a spot where we surf thats got a very sketchy 90* left turn coming uphill (ascends about 30* over ~40 feet while turning the corner) with some deeeeep ruts and water run-off, and mixed that with red clay soil and slate, it's interesting to say the least.. my ranger used to catch its arse over a year ago when the road was better than it is now... the lux just crawls up there pretty easily. only a couple ppl drive down there now and they have the rigs to do it. even I of late park up top and walk about 1/4 mile down the hill, but not any more 8-)

Yes fellas, I real happy with my latest purchase... even though I was leaning towards the tube style bull bar from XROX, the more and more Lux's I looked at I changed my mind...

Anyway, here is the bumper I got from a fellow tuner (thanks Stuarts and his Dad, real cool people)

And just today I was watching the van in TYC carpark and saying I like the front bumper since I painted it

i agree that bumper does look quite nice since you painted it. but the iron bumper you purchased, why not cut off the two side hoops and leave the middle hoop and put some nice spotties or an LED bar under it?

not sure about the Ranger behind, dont think thats the one with the 33's.. I was watching the 2012 that was next to me (owned by my friend Patrick) who just did a 3" lift and put on 33x12.5x18" Toyo AT's and carbon wrapped his hood etc... looked cool and wanted a side by side photo, but he was obviously in a rush.

looking good! my buddy has the meanest looking 3.0 hilux IMO. Same model as yours. Maybe you've seen it or know him. Will post a pic sometime. Just fitted a brand new suspension, new 3.0 engine from toyota, and some black rhino wheels and Australian Toyo ATs along with many MANY other upgrades. Schedule 40 steel pipe bumper guards like mine as well

yup well i'm talking about Scott's own in particular. they actually have about 3 of those white hilux's, all kitted out similarly with the bumpers. it could have been him or steven you met.

looking forward to that pic of the 5" lifted one. should be installing a snorkel on my van soon as well. not sure if it's the look im going for but its mostly for the function

I monitor this like a hawk.

Before I would average 600kms a tank (try not to let it go much below 1/4)

I filled up the day I installed (last friday to be exact), BUT i didn't full it as much as I normally would. (would normally full it till it stops the pump, and this time I think i could have fit another $10 or so)

So far today I am on 1/4 tank and on ~420kms.. and if you have a hilux, you'll know this is when the gauge starts to drop fast compared to the rest of the range of the gauge. So i think I may have lost some milage..

BUT

and this is a big factor, remember I also changed tires. And these mud terrain tires are not the best for fuel efficiency.

I would estimate I maybe lost about 50kms a tank? I'm gonna fill up later today and hopefully get some better figures

What I have noticed since the install of both is 2 things, especially the bumper:

1) I am using more clutch/accel pedal for taking off etc, also leaving it in first gear and just cruising at idle (no foot on the accel pedal) in slow traffic now causes more load on the engine and the van vibrates a little compared to being able to crawl at idle speed.
2) People and Maxi's move out the way.. except for the first couple days when I forgot about the bumper, and hesitated and let them cut infront of me etc, now i just charge through and wish them luck

Speaking of gas milage and fuel, this is high in priority on my list as I have already gotten some bad fuel and had to replace the filter, flush tank and drain the fuel system...

IMGP0967.jpg

http://www.asap-supplies.com/marine/cav ... d-elements

You can get these around, I saw them at one of the marine shops.. great for eye-balling your fuel quality via the clear bowl on the filter... note that this will obviously not replace the stock filter, just run inline before the stock water trap/filter.
