I'v got a 4x4 doing 102,000kms. Excellent vehicle.
Change Oil & fuel filters every- 5000kms
Castrol 15w40 fram fuel filter -ph8a- - with oil change
Rotate tyres every 20,000 km 275/75/16 Hankook AT/S
Diff &gear box - red line every 40,000ms. Air filter Change. every 15,000kms
Clean strainer in fuel pump once.
Still on original disc pad, replaced the rear drive shaft cross, at 85,000km please keep them grease, $ 2200.00 for replacement in the firm, & $250.00 aftermarket price really one of the best 4x4 when it comes to offroading on 4L, better than Toyota's & Navara's

Guys- please ensure that you grease your drive shaft cross at least every 10,000kms....i use mobil 1 grease- a blue grease and works fine....

Invest in a grease gun - cost under TT$200 - so you can pump away at your leisure.

Proper way is to pump out all the old grease until the new grease is coming out the cross. Carry the van for a short run - ensure you do a small reverse- then pump in some new grease again....

This is not just specific to the BT-50 but all vehicles with drive shafts....

As BT-50 says to all vehicles grease those drive shafts, to prevent the tyre from touching you need to crank the torsion bar a bit up... not to much...cuz then the van ride becomes stiff, the only setback is the backseat is a bit tight.... but then ...I don't carry anyone.....best feature LSD on wet road when cornering....

I've got alot of black smoke coming out when pressing down on 1st and 2nd going up hill. Did an oil and all filter change less than 1000km ago, is that normal or what do you guys suggest?

Went Deans Wheels earlier to price the 3" lift kit and other goodies, he said with that i may only take up to a 275 tyre with my original rims. That sound funny as i know sasracing has the 275 without the liftkit.

Re: MAZDA BT50 OWNERS WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS AND/OR REVIEWS

Postby Team EVO » February 24th, 2012, 5:34 pm

I recently start encountering a problem with my BT50 where when i start in the morning of after parked up for more than 6 hours i get a "hard start" and the engine has a very rough idle for a about 10secs and ALOT of white smoke...can anyone shed some light on this?

And to give a brief maintenance history
1.Oil change every 10,000-12,000km (Amsoil)
2.Oil filter change every 5000km (K&N extended life filter) and top up with 1/2qt oil
3.Fuel filter change every 5000km and run/circulate Amsoil cetane boost additive through pump
4.Professional Diesel Fuel Pump & Injector Service (includes injector and pump cleaning) every 20,000km
5.Clean Secondary filter everytime i have time which is usually every 3000km or so
6.Wash and service K&N air filter every 5000km and "blow out" with air hose every 1-2weeks

I have only replaced my gear box and diff oil once with Amsoil and that was about when i did about 20,000km, i plan on changing it again when i am 100,000km

As i said my main concern is the problem stated above!

Team Evo- Seems that you may have a crack cylinder head, check fluid level in the radiator, sometimes it's a very very tiny crack, and the water will drip into the combustion chamber.

i don't think it's anything to do with my cylinder head, it's been almost 3 years i have my pickup and i have never had to put a drop of Coolant/water in my radiator, i spoke to someone who said to check my glow plugs...will do and get back to you guys!

Team evo- If this happens only in the morning when you start and after some hours when the engine is cold again then it can be the glow plug. If youre not losing water in radiator then its not a crack. Usually when its cracked...no matter how soon after you start back the vehicle (lets say 10-15mins) it would blech out the white smoke rough idle etc.. Whats the mileage on this vehicle?

BTW you clean injector and pump every 20000kms? seems like a overdo imo.

question here guys,
what's the difference between the 4x4 d/c SDX and
the 4x4 d/c fully loaded?

I'll be looking to purchase a local used one with low milage (<50K)
within the next month or so, any pointers or key items to check for?

thanks,
Vick

I think the only difference is the SDX don't come with dual air bags, keyless entry, but everything else as the fully loaded..

is this happening only on mornings or throughout the day?
is the radiator always filled when you remove the cap or do you need to add water/also to overflow bottle?

my dad has a 4x4 auto bt50. TCP reg.
van is currently doing 120,000k's serviced by the firm.
up till this day nothin has gone wrong or needed changing besides regular servicing.
after the 100,000k service van started back working like the day we got it from the firm.

this is my dad's 4th mazda from the firm 1 old model b2500, 2 new model b2500 and this bt50. all vans was doing almost 300,000 b4 selling. and never had any problems whatsoever ( gearbox was changed in 1 van due to fierce clutching). and he don't intend on leaving the mazda line for nothing. :D
