No true professional will go out on his own unless he's
1) competent enough to handle issues
2) has good relationships with suppliers and other service men
3) has decent equipment and facilities

I went by an electrician today... The quality of work, attention to details and the equipment he have.. will put those big companies to shame.

Is he expensive? For some things, maybe, sure... But for the small things its pocket change

I was in and out in half hour. Something that would have taken an hr in the big firms, and where I would not have seen what was happening nor assured that they not taking me for a ride (no pun intended) where my wallet was concerned.

Where do all you people service your injectors?

I used to carry it by Electro-Diesel on Cipero St Sando but they dont do small jobs like that any more
Any other options that you know about?
I prefer south or central but I can work anywhere if I know they going to do good work at a good price...

I try my best to do everything myself, no matter how much busted knuckles or how much hours spent frustrated and cussing, always seem to get through in end with enough dedication. Except for that one time when a glow plug broke and stuck in the head, not a nice experience...!!
DIY is the only way to learn.
All fluids and corresponding filters are changed by me and i've also changed, brake pads, idle arm bushings, pit-man arm, stabilizer bar bushings, clutch fan, changed turbo & installed larger intercooler, and due to an unfortunate event in the past I now know how to scrap the entire front end and interior of my '07 Ranger.
It only ever went to the mechanic to change clutch and to prep and change the cylinder head.
I give up long long time now with the dealership, whats the point of having a warranty if they wont change anything whilst under it.

In case you're wondering my van was flooded and considered a write-off when it was 6 months old.

CD4Accord - what about Sookhais? They kinda expensive though. I remember another place in San Juan that does it but I can't remember their number.

white_lion - that's awesome man. Keep up the good work :D.

lighthammer, I never been to sookhai's..
What kinda price you talking about to service the injectors?

I feel like that would be a good business and more people in the country need to get the equipment and expertise to do injector servicing.. So many diesel vehicles on the road..

Hey guys sorry for bumping this old tread but i need some advise, i own a Navara and the service from the firm is horrible(oil change not done properly, pannels not reinstalled properly, van not cleaned properly) just to name a few.

Is it worth spending the $ at N&M just for the warranty? please note that this will be my 3rd service, and i already have these problems. i can do all these things myself, and there is also google, but from ur exper what did you guys do?

I had the navara yd25ddti service manual fom the uk navaras, but my laptop died last week.

I gqve up on neal and massey, they didnt do a good jon of servicing my truck either. Last time i went by them, they took the truck to do an engine wash, didnt do the engine wash, forgot to put back the engine cover and almost lost the nuts for it.... And they wanted to keep the truck ove the weekend to do the full servicing, all the while charging $495 per day to keep the truck on a "rented" portion of their garage floor.

I said fack them and brougt the truck to service by someone else 3749339.

If you want more info on the navara, go to www.navara.asia and www.clubfrontier.org
Youll find lots of info on those forums once you register.

I use to service at the dealers untill I saw first-hand the sheit they do to people's vehicles...
Now I do it myself and whatever I can't handle I take it to someone who knows what to do and who is a tad bit more of a perfectionest than even me....

I'm happy now, i get what I want done the right way and I save a hell of a lot of money and time.

Fella, what do the Syrians have to do with anything? Ok, they own Suzuki and Diamond/Classic...
BUT
What does that have to do with Toyota, N&M, Southern Sales?

All the dealers are the same crap and they will dig your eye out regardless.. That said, I have found N&M to be particularly bad... As in, vehicles coming back worse than when they went in sort of bad..

They adjusted my mothers brakes once, to a point where both rear calipers were binding onto the rotor... Cost us 2 rotors that they didn't want to fix..
Same vehicle has had a whistling noise of air coming into the car since new, but they claim they never hear it and they refuse to take the vehicle for a test drive on the highway.. Company car mind you, aka free money for them..

Lets be honest, if you have a good mech (diesel or gas) it probably isn't even cost effective to keep your warranty based on the cost of service...
An average oil change on my pajero costs me about $250 between oil, filter, labour.. Private mechanics all the way yes!

^agreed x2

All it takes is a little bit of diligence and discipline, sometimes a little patience.
The comoanies are very good at making sales, but not even half as good with follow up service.

Once you're not lazy amd you're proactive with your servicing, theres nothing that the dealer can do that you cant have done for yourself outside (possibly for less $$$)

For some people the dealership service is because of convenience.

They dont want to have to do the running around that you have to do otherwise. Rather have everything done in one place, one price, in two hours, and they dont have to take a day off from the office.

That said, I've also had nothing but good service from Ford.

2 hours?

Last time I dropped a vehicle to N&M they took 3 days to change oil, air filter and a radio...

Even after all that, they did not address all the problems that were on the list..
Jokers

Lets be honest too.. If you arrange with your mechanic beforehand, you just stop at an auto parts place.. 10 mins later you have all your parts and oil etc.. Go to mech, seeing as you already scheduled the work it will be done same day.. Just as with the dealer..

yeah some go to the dealership for the utter convenience, price is not an issue, and also to brag "it dealer maintained" shud see how these vehicles are treated, man does do what u wud never dream of doing, burn out, 360, handbrake tail slides, lock up brake, man u name it....and don't talk for how they are treated when they come off the freighter, with little miles on them they are sometime red lined and flat-outed while in transit to their respective stockyards......

Yup, ive seen a convoy of about 5 xtrails being driven from the port up to the dealership in morvant, men doing burnouts and hard braking all the way up to savannah. D-plates and all.

Not knocking the guys who get good service from the dealerships, if the convenience and results suit you, then fine, all well and good.

I just found that in my personal experience, i was paying too much for a service that i had the patience and resources to do myself. I dont care who you service by, inthe end its the truck and its wellbeingthats important - after all, who here can say that they havent sunk more than $100,000 or even $200,000 into their daily ride?

When you want it done right you gotta do it yourself... If you don’t have the patients, tools and skills required to do so then get someone who does. Honestly, Integrity and Affordability are pretty hard to find these days. That coupled with practical experience and sound advice on solving problems with your vehicle. It says a lot when people take serious pride in what they do. Passion is not just a word it’s gotta be exercised to impress me. I have been to a lot of them and tried quite a few. They have all been measures and have been found wanting. I'm grateful to have found what I was looking for. I make no hesitation in saying that Mr. James Moseley (Yeah that’s the guy with - 374-9339) is that guy and seriously speaking the only person other than me who will be touching my Vehicles is Him and his Team.

Phoenix OUT!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys, this helped my decision.

Navara guys are there any known problems that you all have encountered at certain mileage? or are they still going strong? asking because of the warranty, when i stop this will void the warranty i have.

I can do most to all the repairs myself once i have the time, but i will keep the contact # you all gave just incase i dont have time at some point, thanks for all the feedback again guys.

I service at TTTL and im satisfied with both customer service and service done to the vehicle. The best thing about TTTL is tht they dont give u stress for warranty claims unlike my last vehicle which was a euro and a certain firm in POS didnt want to honour their warranty! Literally had to fight them down! Also TTTL service efficiency has improved, you no longer have to wait whole day to collect a vehicle, drop it in the morning and collect it by lunch time. In terms of price is not to bad except for the major services at 40,000 km and 80,000 km which is a little expensive. My warranty would be up soon but would still service at TTTL, plus its always good to have full service records esp when ur ready to sell :)

honestly the only reason i want to keep the service with the firm is the warranty..right now i am doing 52K and held on the service with them...service with Ford is good - i usually wait for the service - take about an hour or so once you reach early. Plus i am friends with most of the managers in there so i am with the van when the service is being done sometimes.
I just hate that they does over charge people - last time i paid over a 1000dollars for a flikkin regular service..
I need to make a pass in to James and check out the service setup he have. Does he do alignment etc too?
