ok, I need to kno, do the sportero come with the 4m41 or the 4d56 manual,

if so a fellow (k34)L200 owner said he gettin an engine from a new van that crashed, an wants to transplant the 4m41 into the k34.

He didn't give or kno much abt the donor van, only that its manual, and new,
and is asking me for advise abt the transplant.......

So far i told him that if its the 4d56t it can most likely line up with the current box he has, if its the 4m41 i don't kno squat,

need some advise, suggestions, have you all heard abt this kind of conversion b4???

He is willing to be a project, but need to kno 4 sure if it can be done especially if it is the 4m41.

Sportero does not come in any other thing than 2.5L - 4D56DiD (KB4) and 3.2L - 4M41 DiD (KB8) and off course the age old 4D56 N/A

the K34 takes the 4M40 (Auto) well

I know ppl that did this convert

4M41 from crash van :?:

which 4M41 :?: thaz from a Pajero that he getting it :?:

Thanks V, But it looks like he not too sure abt the type of engine, cause when i asked him he said its a new model l200, i think a TCC, and he asked the owner 4 de engine an he said 25k. So when he came to me I said i'll do some looking around 4 him.

The 4D56, i kno its ok,
The 4m40 (2.8 ) .... (Is this for the older pejero???) ... I'm yet to see this transplant
The 4m41(3.2).... Is this from the triton an new model pejero??? I don't hav a clue if it could line up!!

......the K34 takes the 4M40 (Auto) well

I know ppl that did this convert......

Did they retain their 4x4 system, cause that normally works wit a center diff.....????

^ ^ ^ 4M40 from the old V46 Pajero

They retained their 4x4

Lifted the Pajero too to fit some 35" tyres

They used the engine and tranny (with transfer case) so the VCD worked

hey peeps, not too long drop the sportero to service by DM, the guy said the van might have to stay there over night due to the EGR valve and injectors needing to service. He also said the EGR does usually need to service at 40k's while the injectors go at 20k's. The cost of servicing the EGR is $2400...quite alot IMO. So I'm hoping everyting goes well considering that the bill is going to be high..lol

hey peeps, got the van bak last week and as expected the bill was huge...it costs $3000 alone for cleaning the EGR valve and injectors and the usual alignment, oil, oil filter and fuel filter change came up to $1128 I think and VAT added to both of those rounded up to a lil under $5000...quite alot I tink.

would like to know if these things (EGR and injectors) can be done urself if a service manual is available somewhere in the net? thanks

every single thing that DM does (and doesn't do) can be done yourself

once you have the right tools and knowledge

if not, then a reputable and experienced mechanic will be better than DM

I've done 190 000km in one diesel and I'm doing 82 000km on another ... never serviced diesel injectors yet. I honestly think its a ripoff when mechanics service diesel injectors.

Acmilan11 ... were you having any problems before and what's ur mileage?

Can't you simply use diesel additives/cleaners to keep the injectors clean?
I use the cyclo brand from pricesmart every other fill-up in the frontier, and never had any problems. I use it as a protective measure rather than to actually clean the injectors when they get really dirty, at that point i'd then take it to the mech. or go to sookhai's diesel.

My mileage did now reach 50,000 and wasn't having any problems...but the guy by DM said its for precautionary measures...

I never serviced any vehicle by DM, I just get parts when needed

but I have good friends who have had so many terrible encounters with them that I do not need to ahve any of my own to make teh statements that I do

but what I was really getting at was that DM are not magicians nor gods - they are just mechanics that have a factory service manual. Whatever they do, a good mechanic can also do. most of the service that they do is not vehicle specific - cleaning EGR on a Sportero isn't a specialized task that only they can do. any competent experienced mech can also do it they may have a lot of experience doing it since they would have done most of teh Sportero's on the roads. the quality that you or your mechanic will put into it, you will not get by DM as they servicing many vehicles

true, good treatments will avoid this, but there comes a time when injectors need to be changed - remember teh pic TL had in teh maintenence thread :?:

hey venum, how long do these injectors last until they need to be changed and why?...cuz if these need to be replaced I cud imagine how much DM will call for them...

^ ^ ^ injectors last hundreds of thousands of km in mileage

Generally they do not need changing unless they burnt from really long extensive use (like Sweeky said above) like 200,000km or from an abnormalty due to a engine defect

You ain't suppose to change injectors on that Sportero yet . . . Relax

^^^Hi 2ners, as de topic of injector come up, is there anything as putting too much diesel treatment or cetane boost. I was told that if used every fill up, it will accumulate an will cause the injector tips to go bad before its time because of the detergents they carry..... (It made sense but i don't kno the facts)
I haved searched online an nothing confirmed what the mech said, so..........>>>>>

I use the Cyclo brand diesel fuel additive every other fillup - so far no problems.
So what's the mech gonna do if the injector tips "go bad"? Put in something to clean it???

What does he mean by go bad?
Clogged?
Burnt?
Explode into oblivion?

Sorry man, but what ur mech said don't make sense.
Couple of the guys here use the Amsoil cetane boost additive as well, in fact it's a concentrate - you add 2 teaspoon's worth or something like that to every fillup.

if they burnt they need replacing not cleaning

too much additive may burn the injectors if it alters the combustion process

if the additive makes the diesel less explosive then there may be some burning - not sure, need to investigate, next time i have some google time

I take it the brakes pads for the 2.5 and 3.2 are the same.

I did a search online and came across the following: "Part number MR389511 was superseded by part number MZ690000."

I'm thinking about ordering some disc pads - MZ690000. It should cost about $800 landed here. If anyone is interested in getting a set, PM me. It should get here at the end of February.[/quote]
