Yea i wish i did also. The firm serviced the van from 0-50000, now i'm servicing myself and wanted to use a lower viscosity.

Any particular reason why you want to run the lower viscosity oil. ...

I see no real problem in using the 10w30 oil now... Once it has the necessary certifications. Engine might make a touch more noise but the manual lists 10w30 among the viscosities that can be used

Fuel economy gains might not be much. You make the biggest gains by controlling your right foot

That is pretty good. ... better than mine anyway. ..I usually estimate 10km/l
So I'm going to hazard a guess and say either you have a manual or most of your miles are highway miles

The best I ever got was 11.2km/l

3.0 and it's mostly highway miles at or just slightly above speed limit.

Is it that there is a sensor in the fuel rail. .. and people wait so long that enough water has built up that it gets past the sedimentor.... my old man has covered 150000kms and that light has only come on when fuel was very low

I need some assistance. So the 1kzte transplant into the local ln166 is basicLly complete. First thng i did was replace injector tips. Since i did this she has been knocking loudly at low revs, overfuels at idle, totally thick black smoke, no power on acceleration. The tips used are the correct tips. I toyed with the tps, its adjustable, still nothng. I retarded the pump and knocking stopped. However she has no power when accelerating. Turbo is good. I am sure. The only thing is the mechanic broke my intake pressure sensor. It was replaced with one off a used 1kd. They both look the same but have one digit difference in part number. Could this he the culprit?. The kz is out of a kzn130

Guys...recently hit a big bump of pitch on a bad road and van got shaken up bad....about 2 km after it cut off. Restarted and cut off again after 1 km. This happened about 4 times again and then wouldnt start. After priming I was able to get home.Van had 3/4 tank diesel.

Next morning I took it to check and service. Van starts normal and runs perfectly without citting off. When checked there was nothing wrong with the van.

1 month later heading up highway and van shuts down again...van only had 1/4 tank diesel. Topped up tank from fuel can and van starts perfectly and runs with no problem.

What could be causing the van to cut off. Any ideas..Note this only started happening after I hit the bump and van got shaken up bad.

Van is 2009 Hilux and doing 67000 km. Regular servicing with oil and filter changes...

That's a perplexing set of symptoms. I'd honestly say fuel pump malfunction or fuel filter blocked, but it's best to see what the more experienced guys have to say. H

Had a problem when van would not start sometimes overnight or if I left it on an incline for some time.

When I primed it it will start.

Traced it back to the canister containing the fuel filter was not sealing properly after a filter change.

Once I closed the filter cannister properly problem went away.

^ seems plausable
i had a similar problem with a frontier and turns out it was the hose inside the tank, it was built pretty weird and somehow it got shaken up and ended up pointing upward. seemed modified from stock tho

I'm surprised that you went with a conventional oil with an unknown additive pack.

Rubia TIR 7400 SYN NA SAE 15W40 is a premium synthetic CJ-4/SM blend developed for 2007 and newer low-emission diesel engines with after-treatment systems

if I'm not pleased with it in the next couple kms i will switch back to liqui moly. my hilux doesnt get a lot of work, mainly city runs so when i get up to about 500km i will let y'all know.
wanna try the kendall next...

my van is doing about 67000km

110,000km on my 2011 hilux.

i have been using Amsoil in my 2011 Hilux for 2 straight years no issues average 700-720km per fill up
used Mobile 1 Delvac in November 2014 as Amsoil was scarce to get at the time i was looking..not bad

however in my March 2015 service i used Schaffer 2000km in Schaffer thus far
quieter engine
fuel efficiency still the same 10.8/l
average 700-720km per fill up

the mechanic wants me to bring a sample of all the oil i used he has a machine to test the properties of them will do so next service...3months time he is Schaffer distributor.

Aaron will try the Liquid molly later this year.

Oil change is super important. I can say this feom the perspective of repairing at least two hilux turbochargers a week. Its like a cash cow for me. Its the number one diesel charger repair i do. I see it everytime. Vnt system damaged due to premature wear causing shaft play. Today i am doing a pcx fortuner doing 56,000kms. Reposessed. I can tell oil may have never been replaced. Rear of turbo all chewed up. Gonna try to resurrect it

i changed the moly every 7500kms. i did the same with the mobil.

I'm trying the total at 5000km and would do a test on it after its changed.

like loco said, its all in proper maintenance, you can use the best products and don't do proper maintenance and it will cause more problems....
