Thanx Don,

Paint - max Meyer Gunmetal (J2)

done by a 2nr

the Scorpions work good for my street driving.

did some small off-road with them and worked well, terrible in mud though, no self-cleaning

wheels look nice venum; what kind of prep work was done to the wheel before painting (sandblast, powerbrush, sandpaper, etc?). Just asking for future reference in case I decide to do the same, I'd like to pass on the work to the 2nr.
Also, please post here or in the tire thread what other tires you looked at before going with the scorpions. Think it's the first time I'm seeing one with the white lettering too; the little scorpion looks pretty slick. My inner ricer would probably use the black lettering, and highlight just the scorpion in red with this: http://www.duplicolor.com/products/hotTires/

Can anyone tell me the fix for the clunky steering issue on my 2007 sportero . All suspension components are in pretty good condition . Suspect the steering coupling/bushing . Where can I purchase the replacements ,or can anyone share the part numbers ?

collapsable steering column bushing - the white plastic bushing

Dunno Dude, that was all done by the 2nr

I got those Scorpions used from acmilan11 with 10,000km on them - pretty much brand new

there were pretty much the usual options on the market that I had eliminated - roadstone\nexxen, for quality reasons - Total shiq tyres, don't care what anyone says, i had poor experience with them

the chinese options - also for quality reasons

Michelins, Yokohama and BFG's - but more than i was really willing to spend on rubbers

there were Firestone Destinations, Kumho ST, Dunlops and Sumitomo's that were in the economy range that I was considering - Firestone was in the lead

if I didnt get these Pirelli, i was going with the Firestones

my choice was based on best tyres for my predominately street driving wit the 5% off-road application

Hey guys! I'm looking for a little advice here. I have a 2012 Sportero with the 17 rims like the one in the pic. The original tyre is Dunlop and the size is 245 65 17 but I want something wider. I'm not an off roader just a daily road driver. So my preference in tyre will be one that can handle wet/dry conditions best. What brand of tyre is good for my application and how wide can I go on those stock rims.

265 should take it easy and without probs

what biand for street driving is totally up to your pocket

you van get shi-t Roadstone for ~$800 Ea, great Michelins for ~$2200 Ea or a lot of other brands in between those prices

I have those 17s as well.....I put Bridgestone duelers 265/65....I felt a little difference at high speeds...ie.....took a lil while longer to reach 180km/h......but was told it shud last almost twice as long as the grandtreks u have in d pic which i got d van with also ie. shud last over 80000km....I saw them last about 70000 on a fren hilux....very slight extra feedback in steering as well, tried speed balancing a few times but never went away. tolerable though. Got em at ramrattans for 5400 for d set which included balancing and nitrogen

Looking to put some 20s on my 4x4 sportero. Whats the correct rims to buy? Don't want that overly broad tyre outside the fender look. Any advice folks? Also what tyre profile of tyre should I go with?

Don't do that. Had one with 20'' before. Ride was bumpy and turning radius was terrible. Stock rims ride much better.

^^^ x2

20" rims are the recipe for a sh!t ride quality and suspension bills

but if u really want those 20", then choose the narrowest one with the most sidewall

broader tyres cause stiffer steering and put more load on your power-steering pump

more meaty sidewalls give a more cushioned ride

Guys got a little problem , i decided to change all the fluids on my K74 L200 4*4 when i opened the
front diff there is little or no oil inside . Refilled and during the course of the week i am seeing oil dripping from the diff (not sure where ) on the ground when i park .

Oil was filled according to normal fill level . Havent taken a intensive look yet as the van is in the shop painting

Where are some of the places this oil can be leaking from the diff? (axel seals maybe ?)

It will leak from either of the axle seals or from the pinion seals, hence why there wasn't any oil in there!

Should get those seals by special auto, skf or Filterproz

i have two questions about this as i was thinking bout buying myself

what is the performance like using the tuning module?

and secondly for the boost controller, you are setting the boost? is that wise to play around with?

The van was tuned on a dyno, and boost beyond 20 psig will trip the overboost failsafe on the stock ecu.

So you have protection on the van already from overboost, and the boost controller itself has overboost protection (I had it set to 19 psig).
