some weirdness this week guys

wife driving Teri at night and put on the wipers

then all dashboard lights went out - IP, A/C, vanity, glove compartment,

digital display in the IP (odometer and gear) are working

when fog lights or high beam and indicators are activated, the lights for these work so it appears it is just the backlights that are out

no right side park lights - front and rear

license plate lights work both side

alarm horn seems to have died as well - alarm works as it is supposed to arming and disarming, but no sound when armed, disarmed or when triggered

no flashing park lights when alarm is activated or when armed\disarmed

anyone run into this or similar before?

haven't got time to troubleshoot this weekend or the next

Never encountered that but maybe check for blown fuses then check that circuit

a friend of mine experienced this problem but when he put on his indicator.

There is a plug that connects everything ....you can find it under the steering wheel by the wipers there.

try spraying it with WD40 and if that doesnt work you might hav to buy the part.

^^^ been there done that

see my previous posts on that problem - the wiper stalk goes bad and affects the lights, which is intermittent

that is not the problem that I am currently experiencing, i just have no left side park lights and dashboard lights

i think it is the fuse, just dont have the time to get under the dash in the fuse box

Venum, sounds even stranger than a regular fuse issue. Assuming the lamps are still good...both side park lamps are usually one one circuit, so if one side alone is working, i'd suspect a wiring issue after the fuse.
BUT
Eons ago, I had a weird parklight issue in my civic which caused by a blown double contact bulb where one filament jumped over and fused to the other side.
Sorta like this
Original - | |
Damaged - |\

I hope my art makes sense.

My advice is check all your double contact bulbs first before investigating wiring.

Just throwing out a reminder to confirm if you can...
Pulled these from the Owners Manual, but on my last car I overbought stuff with info from the FOM....

6 qts 75-90 gear oil for MT and Trans case
2 qts GL5 hypoid
2 qts LSD oil

^^^ thanx

my park lights front and rear are 9-LED bulbs, so no filaments to cause that problem

I had a weird prob in my CK2 lancer years ago to with a bad\cheap double contact bulb - mash brakes and the radio station used to change

I'll scan the Owners manual and post it tomm for the fluid quantities

I need to do diffs as well - group buy fluid and garage lime :?:

I have a new oil gun that I got for Christmas to christen

Lemme know how much you getting the fluids for, I usually get pretty good prices @Double R in Balmain.

Garage lime sounds good, but I eh doing that Drivetrain fluid swap as a DIY nah...my mech in California will handle that and I will breeze out and make chow.

Hi, am new on here

Hopefully this is the right place to ask for help....???

I have a UK 2007 L200 Warrior ( KB4T - 4D56 ) and I'm looking for any kind of guides, or advice for changing the clutch and the timing belt.

Looking to order everything tomorrow so I can get it all done over the weekend.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Finally got the 2007 pdf service manual.

Shared via my dropbox, so copy while you still can.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/441 ... MANUAL.pdf

If someone can permalink via another file share that'd be great.

Gents, it's been a little while; hope everyone's rig is treating them well. Just to update you guys, since my last post, my outstanding issues have been resolved and the truck is working up to standard. I'll post more on what was done later, but for now I need to know where I could source authentic OEM fuel and oil filters locally, besides the stealership. I'd like to do a service this weekend, so Simpsons in Barbados is out, and I almost always seem to have trouble getting in contact with our resident powerseller (FP) , so I'd like alternatives. Thanks.

You can also check AWD Motorports in Chaguanas, used to buy all my scooby stuff from him and I was told he is also stocking OEM truck Mtce stuff now.

Quick question, can the Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90 be used in the 4d56 4wd manual trans?
Already plan to use in the front and rear diffs and getting a damn good deal on a case of the stuff.

How much you need, min quantity is a case (12 qts @ 103ea) - just so happens a case is enough for my whole drivetrain.

You might need to split a case with someone else!

You have tiptronic? :o
Wow I could've used that.

That is definitely a warrantable repair.

Met Mohammed yesterday and he said they serviced the shifter sensor and got the tiptronic to run thru the 5 gears but Drive still stuck in gear 1. The transmission specialist is coming out on Monday so he will have to run thru it then. will update on Monday.

thanks man, I called them on Friday and confirmed that they're carrying OEM truck stuff now. Got tied up this weekend so I'll stop by next week, thanks for the link.

As for my rectified issues:
1) We've had a clunky steering column issue for quite some time; I spoke with a few people/ read online, that although annoying, it wasn't critical, so I took my time dealing with that. In the end we just replaced the column rather than trying to repair it.
http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/sho ... hp?t=74826

2) venom, wrt my flickering light problem, I ending up replacing one of our foglights which turned out to be functional but cracked and had water in it :? If you want to update the part number in the first post, here's the info I have:
Brand: Valeo
Model: 088899
Price: ~$45 USD

Upcoming: we should be approaching 200k within the next few months, what should I be looking at changing :?:
