anyone have 22's on their navara?
what's the ride like?
what are the pros and cons?
your input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
- yup, biggy has them on his navara. No complaints, afaik.
- ride, most folks who I've asked say ride is normal, but a lil more harsh on potholes and bumps. One guy who has 20's on his navara told me the stiffer sidewall makes his navara feel like it turns more sharply, but on roads with "ruts" on them (eg. wrightson road in front licensing) it'll feel like you're riding on rails. Definitely try to take it easy on bumps and potholes though.
- Pro's: - bling status (if you're into that kind of thing....), umm... better cooling for your brakes? The stock 16" rims don't really fill out the proportions of the Navara so well, it's a mid-sized truck so bigger tyres and rims do look better on it.
- Con's: harsher vibrations cuz of less rubber protecting the rim = faster wear and tear on suspension, shocks, bushings, etc. Easy to dish a rim on a pothole (the navara weighs 1,950kg in stock form). Less sidewall = less air-down ability in offroading (unless u putting on a monster-sized lift kit and wearing 35x12.5R22 MT's). Less tyre choices for offroading, but loads of rim-choices for highway runs. Larger wheel diameter = change in gearing ratio and slight change in your speedometer reading (110km/h on the speedo will actually be around 115-120km/h).
