That LSD is what makes the Frontier truly a offroader

How is the QD32 Frontier offroad?

the torsion bar set up IMO is best suited for offroad as it is rugged and in my experience durable

on a serious note..........i havent had any **knocks wood** all mechanical, suspension, exterior, paint and interior parts are that which came with the vehicle bought in 2001 frm N&M. Just a reqular service on time works with me cuz i'm DIY all the way. An for early prevention, Valugard rust proof the undercarriage which was an option frm N&M, side steps and the front bar done by kazim ali, Lighthammer should have his number.
the only problem i'm having is that recently my fuel economy began to drop and after 10yrs of never touching them, i think the injectors may be worn
i'd strongly suggest test driving 1 and find if it suits your personal preference before you make a purchase

I have had my 3.2 for about 1.25 years now, bought used from N&M. Have had no problems except the fuel filters are really expensive from N&M so I buy outside but I change oil at 10k (running Mobil Delvac) I coming up on the 100k mark so I will be change all the fluids because it was a used I am going to change a little early to make sure that I will have less problems. I think Nissan recommends to change fluids at 120k.

But remember the LSD is not a fully locking diff and I don't think there is a front LSD (might be wrong) so you can still get stuck when offroading.

question:

Are there any other brand new 4x4 pick ups that cost less than the frontier? Apart from the wingle and stuff like that

Last quote i got on Saturday is $169,500 from Neal and Massy salesperson.

The L200 and the Isuzu were somewhere around that when I was checking 2 years ago.
Look around.

Or you could always buy used.

If you're looking for an equivalent vehicle to the 3.2L N/A Frontier ($155,000)

- 2.5L WLT direct injection, 4x4 manual Ford Ranger (older engine, less powerful than the 2.5 TDCi engine) - $189,000 (OTR)
- 2.5L WLT/MZ-DE direct injection, 4x4 manual Mazda BT-50 (same engine as the above ranger) - $193,000 (OTR)
(mazda comes with sidesteps, hence a slightly higher price)

- Nissan Navara, 4x4, manual, fabric seats, fully loaded - $205,000 (OTR)
- Toyota hilux, 4x4, manual, fabric seats, 3.0L D4-D - $229,000 (OTR)
- Toyota Hilux, 4x4, manual, fabric seats, 2.5L D4-D - $215,000 (OTR)

Not sure about the Isuzu Dmax... but it's definitely a great workhorse truck. Not the fanciest, not the fastest, not the most comfortable or roomiest - but it'll get the job done for you.

As for the Wingle, it hasnt' truly proven itself yet in terms of durability and long-term value, but I'm not really seeing that much Wingles on the road these days, so I wouldn't trust their reputation. There is a new wingle, the W5 available, it looks good, but as far as mechanical reputation, there isn't enough data or background to reliably recommended it.

Wingle 5 - 2.7L turbo diesel (made by Isuzu, I believe), 4x4, fabric - $153,000 (OTR)

I've had my eye on this frontier for a while now:

http://www.trinicarsforsale.com/database/featuredcarsDetails.php?06907-5657#top

If I hadn't bought my Navara, I would have gone for this frontier.
Looks like a good deal, and I'm sure you could negotiate the price.

It's a ZD30T engien, and I believe the mileage is less than 80,000 (I called the guy in October last year and he said it was 65,000KM at the time).

for $170,000 i woodnt buy a Frontier.....much less d 3.2L commercial model
d engine is as solid as a rock, but its pretty basic wen u get to d interior

an i cant stress on hw small d backseat is argh!! small tray and horrible on-road suspension, better to leave dis pickup for industrial worksites

nah he asking $130,000

I sure that price could drop down to $115,00, easy.

For a low-mileage frontier, that's not bad at all.

It actually looks like i may be going with the QD32 frontier from N&M. All those other factors don't really concern me. I'm just getting one to get from point A to B (home to work, etc) and beach on the weekend. Ride can't be so bad to make it a problem for me. For now its my choice because of the price and its brand new. That's basically what I'm looking for right now. It isn't my first vehicle and certainly won't be my last, just the best value for my money IMO and what i can afford at this point.

Thanks a lot for your views and opinions guys. Will keep you posted as things go along.
